Prosser & Thorne

I thought they looked pretty solid, considering they only just met. I think they showed a lot of promise as a pairing of centre-halves, of course disappointed with Alty's first goal, but Joe Day hesitated as well. Hopefully it can improve

Good to read something positive at last. Thorne hasn't played much 1st team football this season so it's particularly pleasing to read that he's already forming a partnership with Prosser. It can only get better :)

Very difficult for two young lads to understand each other after just signing and having no chance to work together on the training pitch. Like Gash they're probably suffering from not having played much football this season and need to adjust to the demands, tactics, formation etc. at a new club. I particularly liked Thorne who seems willing to play passing football although he was undone a couple of times by balls over him and was, perhaps, fortunate not to see a red card in the first half.

I thought the ref got it spot on, Joe Day was there and was clearly going to get to the ball first so there was no real goalscoring opportunity.

I thought they did o.k. given that they had only just met each other, let alone the rest of the defence.

We had a very young back four who had never played together before, with a very young goalkeeper behind them.
The problem was a lack of leader at the back.
I thought we looked more secure when Corcoran moved back briefly.

I see the Club very much in a transition phase at the moment - new owners, the Dale effect, loss of a couple of key players, and sadly, a loss of confidence seem to be all contributing to the general malaise. It is at times like this that we will see what JE is really made of.

I never expected us to emulate last season's success (when we punched above our weight to a degree). This is a very tough League now and we need to consolidate and get a good financial base if possible. Let's hope that given time the new owners will be able to provide that.

I liked what I saw from the young lads; they can only get better as they settle in.
Also it's nice to have some real height and size at the back at last!
Thorne in particular is just the right size!

Jury's out as far as I'm concerned but with Stuart leaving and Huke injured I can see why JE has brought then in. Both seemed to be trying to organise the defence barking orders to those around them - could be a conflict here.

Speaking of leaders I really can't understand O'Connor being made captain. No disrespect to him but why make a forward the skipper..? Forwards have the whole team behind them, can't see the the patttern of play, and like yesterday - substituted as forwards often are...strange decision.
