I remember reading somewhere that he had missed training sessions as well, i don't think he would have been in th best mental state. Maybe used on the Bench as the only other keepers we had were Lance key - Probably not in the best physical shape anymore. and a very young inexperienced james Broadbent which from what i have seen of him in pre-match in not ready to play at this level yet, who can blame him he is very young.

As for Joe's recent performances i dont think he has been given any protection what so ever by the defense. At Eastwood we didn't have a back 4, i certainly didnt see any defending, Osano looked lost at CB, Miller was quite except for his long throw's ( which are pointless as we seem to have no tactics set up for them except to launch them towards the keepers gloves) Porter when at RB was always looking to get forward, quite rightly when we were chasing the game and as i have mentioned on a different thread Jamie Day had an absolutly awful game.
Most of the goals came from balls being drilled in low from their right, across the box, these are always hard for a keeper as they have to cover the front post as well as get across the goal line when the ball is crossed, maybe some tighter marking could have changed that.
At Alty jamie Day Completly cocked up an interception allowing a 1 on 1 which he managed to get a strong hand to and stop on the line only for it to be followed in by another of thier players and not a rushden defender.
I dont think you can doubt Days shot stopping ability, there were a few saves he made againt Eastwood that where top class, stick with him and build on his ability

Wierdly i agree with pretty much everything on here. Both the pros and cons of having Day in the sticks.

Joe will be a good goalkeeper in the future, and hopefully at Rushden, but he's not the keeper we need right now in the middle of this run. It won't be doing his confidence any good whatsoever. We need someone with more experience there for the next few games.

As much as i've slated the 'dale effect' - perhaps there is a bit of that also.

I think Joe has does really well since coming into the team and I see no reason to make any changes in that department. In all the home games I have seen he's looked composed and solid and my only knowledge of a mistake was away at Altrincham.

We have a very good reputation for supporting our goalkeepers at Rushden (even very mediocre ones like Young & Shearer) and I would like to see that continue with Joe.

Cue the DeBanke boys to come up with a chant! Maybe something inspired by Perfect Day by Lou Reed. "It's such a perfect day, I'm glad I spent it with you, oh such a perfect day, you keep the score to none....."

I'll get my coat...

It was a fair challenge IMO. Marna should be booked for diving!

Heres another video of the Marna-Day incident. Fair challenge in my book ;)
