Great result that. Bit of money for the club too i guess.

Presumably we have some excellent prospects in our youth team. Either that or Hull were/are having a mare.
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

Just got back from Hull; the lads did the club so proud tonight.

Hull looked the better side in the opening stages although by no means outclassed us. Their left back (I'll dig the teamsheet out in the morning and look up his name!) was brilliant and caused us a lot of problems, and it was down their left flank that the opening goal came. A deep cross fell to their player at the back post and he hit a great half volley back across goal and into the top corner, giving Broady no chance. We hit back about 10 minutes later with a stunning strike from Jake Woolley who cut in from the right wing and hit a blistering shot into the roof of the net from 20 yards. We picked up a bit after the goal and the rest of the first half was quite even, Lewis Wilson went close from the edge of the box for us, and Broady had to make a couple of fairly routine saves at the other end.

The second half however, was very different, and we looked the better side for almost all of it - the left back who had looked so good in the first half, hardly got a look in in the second. There weren't many real scoring chances for either side, until Dom Brennan put us ahead shortly after the hour. Elliot Dent's perfectly weighted through ball allowed Brennan to use his lightening pace to get away from his marker, and he waited for the 'keeper to come out before brilliantly lobbing the ball over him. The next 20 odd minutes were incredibly nervous and Broady had to make a couple of excellent saves, but with only a few minutes left on the clock we hit Hull on the break to make it 3-1. Jerry Nash did brilliantly to win the ball back in midfield, and I think it was Aaron King who played the ball square to Woolley who was in acres of space in the middle, he ran through and (despite looking like he had overrun the ball!) slotted it past the advancing 'keeper to all but seal the victory. Hull pulled one back in the last minute of injury time, scrambling home from a corner, but the ref blew up very soon afterwards to signal an outstanding victory.

Barnsley away in the next round with the possibilty of Chelsea in the round after that!

Team:
1. James Broadbent (c)
2. Zack Reynolds
3. Callum Earls
4. Jerry Nash
5. Jake Gillingwater
6. Morgan Phillips
7. Charlie Desmond
8. Elliot Dent
9. Jake Woolley (MotM)
10. Dominic Brennan (Jordan Pendered)
11. Lewis Wilson (Aaron King)

Hull's youth team aren't as good as you might think, judging by some of their results this season. They are at the same level of the same league system that we were in a couple of years ago (albeit the Northern section rather than the Midlands), before having to withdraw due to financial reasons. Hull have lost to the likes of York, Lincoln and Grimsby this season, but then spanked Rotherham home and away.

Take nothing away from our lads tonight though, because each and every one of them was outstanding. :D

As it mentions in the report on the OWS, the game at Oakwell looks like being on Wednesday. That will be a stiff challenge given they knocked out Spurs to reach the fourth round, but it will be great for our lads to play in a Stadium like that - although I remember it being bitterly cold when the first team played there (and that was October rather than January !).

It was the game where BT preferred to give his son a start in a Division 2 game ahead of David Bell...
