We dont win the second ball!!!!
Playing route one isnt pretty but it tends to work, put it onto a stikers head and play it into Aaron or play it down for Mills/Power/Porter, Its pretty simple. But he cant win that second ball, infact if that sort of data was available after today then I was bet alot of us losing 80%+ of the second balls today, how can you build up an attack with winning them! All that happens is either the ball gets to Aaron or Charles and they lose it, or we fanny about playing triangles in defence like England!

Re: Our Biggest Problem
What a poor second half performance today against 10 men - only hope we can improve for Tuesday.
Here I go again, sorry the needle's stuck...but playing 4-3-3 means we are a player light in the midfield, especially if we play in a 'v' formation with a midfielder at the base protecting the defence, eg Mills today (although he did have an excellent opening game).
Another factor today when they went down to 10 men was that we didn't use our extra man wisely. Because we don't play with natural wingers, (Charles excepted) we didn't leave a player out wide for the whole of the second half. Instead we relied on our full backs to provide width and deliver crosses, most of which were from Osano and when successful were played into the faces of the defence, meat and drink to their CB‘s.
If we used wingers then we would get behind defences and then provide crosses, exposing big centre backs and playing into our incoming attackers and advanced midfielders.
Yes today we created some chances and on other occasions could have scored more but it took a superb strike from Power from well outside the box to break the deadlock.
PD on Radio Cobblers tonight said we need a forward to just tap in goals - well that's more likely to happen with a partnership of 2 up front feeding off crosses from wing play.
Oh and by the way I do favour 4-4-2..!

Re: Our Biggest Problem
4-4-2 gets my vote as well. With both of their fullbacks booked, we should have played with a lot more width for the last half hour. However, it is clear to see that they were playing for the point, hence why they put everybody in defence and showed no desire to score. So whether 4-4-2 would have changed things or not I'm not sure. Strangely, I genuinely think that if Tamworth had 11 men we would have won.Dukes wrote:What a poor second half performance today against 10 men - only hope we can improve for Tuesday.

Re: Our Biggest Problem
The problem is Dukes, that Tamworth came out second half in a 4-4-1, which means that if we line up as a 4-4-2 then we've 4 defenders marking 1 man, and only 2 up front. At times Tamworth dropped very deep and played 6 -8 across the edge of their 18 yard box. To me it doesn't matter if we'd have gone 4-4-2, we'd still have the same problem with so many bodies to beat in a short space. We're just not sharp nor deadly enough once we get in the box.
For my money our corners are poor, we need to be delivering a quality cross just in front of the penalty spot but went deep too many times.
