This is an absolute disgrace imo. I actually didn't end up buying train tickets/hotel but I was mighty close to, but boy am I pleased I didn't.

Being selfish, I'm happy because I can go, but I would be SO pissed off if I was going to Gateshead.

The advanatages of the switch include avoiding a long and wasted journey for fans if the game was called off late, and in particular certainly avoiding the need for a long away trip in midweek if the fixture had to be rearranged. This would have created considerable costs for the club, and most fans would not have been able to see a rearranged midweek game. I do think this was a difficult call for the clubs, but I can understand the decision that has been taken. I suppose it all depends on how risky the pitch is.

At least it gives us another home game, which we COULD use to catch up the teams above us, and build confidence further.

I'm happy, I couldn't make the 16th April, but I can do Saturday :D

Sorry for you guys with weekends booked away, but I can understand the reasoning behind the move.

That's not true its the easter holidays for some so there is no reason not to make the trip up.

Planned to go saturday anyway so makes no difference to me where it is being played, just glad to be able to watch a game.
Do feel sorry for all of you that had already bought/booked train tickets or hotel rooms though best of luck..

You are cordially invited to join the "Wrecked Crew" at the Works for a pre-match half-a-lager shandy (topped)

How can it be a disgrace? The pitch is currently waterlogged and there is more rain forecasted for the Newcastle/Gateshead area in the next couple of days so there is zero chance that the pitch will be fit enough to play. Anyone who had pre-booked train tickets would have had a wasted journey in any event. That's the risk of booking the advance cheap ticket deal.

Sensible decision by both clubs/conference management to avoid a fixture pile.

A chance to see a home game when the alternative was a long, possibly wasted, journey or having to listen to a biassed commentary on the radio? As we seem to be in good form at the moment the home advantage should suit us. Get yourselves down to Nene Park -no excuses. I told you on an earlier thread that the moaners would not be able to keep quiet for very long!

If it's 100% to be waterlogged then fair enough, I don't know if it's not. I'm no Weather Forecaster but I doubt all forecasts are completely accurate. If there's any chance of the game being on they should of left it as money is being wasted by so many fans who don't deserve it.

Also, many fans may have taken the train journey up anyway and had a day in Newcastle, now they have to either go and miss the home game, or waste the trip.

Echoing some of the views on this thread, I always plan things on Saturdays where I know I won't be going to away matches (like Barrow (a)). Gateshead may well have been one of them, leaving me no option as to miss the game, wasting money on a match I wont be able to see which I should have been able to.

I think sometimes clubs need to realise, they don't exist without fans. Yes, it's all about success but at the end of the day you have to keep your punters happy.

I agree OD.

I decided to go away this weekend - specifically chose it because i knew i wouldn't be going to Gateshead away, but would be going to Cambridge last week and Bath next week. I have paid for the ticket afterall, so i tend to keep days free if i know i'm going to football.

And as for the moaners coming back, well apologies for not being extatic that i've got to miss this game because of the clubs last minute decision.

I guess i would have been a bit fed up if this had happened a month ago or tomorrow, because i'd still have missed the game, but the fact it has been done so close to the day of the match just seems strange. I'll be surprised if this isn't the lowest attendance of the season by some distance.
