I think they're thinking what I'm thinking. Why the hell would you as a Diamonds fan want to go anywhere near that place unless it is in the away end? This is a club with which rivalries would be renewed if/when we end up in the same division again.BartonRaz wrote: Corby and Northampton got their games on. I'm at Sixfields at the moment. When i tell people why i'm not at Diamonds they look at me like i've lost the plot.
Better keep my eye on the OS tuesday!

Hardly closet i've said a million times on here that i go and watch them home or away if I can't for whatever reason get to a Diamonds game.Steve wrote:Closet cobbler :oMad Dog wrote:I think they're thinking what I'm thinking. When we were in the same league I didn't go to a Cobblers game (except when we played them, obviously).
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

I respect your view 2oD as you have been going to NP for a long time. But have to say in the 18 or so years I have been going I have not seen any real water-logging. Like you, I have always marvelled at the fact that even though we sit in the bottom of the valley, we have been able to play in the wettest of conditions. Can remember that even when the practice pitch across the A6 has been under feet of water - hence the rise in the water table, the first team pitch was dry and playable. Two of Diamonds wrote:In a perfect world I'd say Ok, but this pitch sits in the bottom of a valley and there is a water table. Once it's high enough, the water will go nowhere so the pitch gets waterlogged. In the 40 years of watching at NP it always has suffered this problem, particularly along the South stand side (although it's been better since the pitch was levelled).BartonRaz wrote:If people didn't have their heads planted up the clubs arse (yes i know the club doesnt technically have an arse) then they'd see that this is a joke. I'm not saying WE called the game off, but WE have a responsibility to make sure the pitch is playable.
As for the 'living in the griggs era' stuff, it's a football pitch, what did they used to do? splash out an extra £50 a season for a top notch set of trowels? Do me a favour, it's not a park pitch.
Can only think, as Dazzler has suggested, that hard times over the last few years has resulted in a lack of end of season maintenance and the excellent drainage system put in during the Griggs days is beginning to clogg up (no pun intended on the clogg word)..!

Wasn't the Lewes game a couple of years ago called off due to a waterlogged pitch. Think that was even later than this fixture in the season.

Don't know Steve, if so you have a better memory than me, which doesn't come as a surprise.Steve wrote:Wasn't the Lewes game a couple of years ago called off due to a waterlogged pitch. Think that was even later than this fixture in the season.
Maybe it was a sign that things were starting to 'clogg' up.. ;)

It's always going to be hard to adjust from the Griggs times, we've all managed to adjust most expectations, this is a first so it's going to take us by surprise. From now on we know it can happen.
