.....Crawley yesterday against Histon. That is some increase in their usual attendance - legacy of the cup run, marketing initiative or fine run of form, or a combination of these - what do you think?

I think they've been close to 4000 in their previous 2 home games also

Yeah they were averaging 1,700 before the FA Cup run, but that increased since, however they have lost nearly 1000 on they last home game so I dont know how long it will last!

People will come out to follow a successful side, espcially if they have money and look like they will win things - plus they would have attracted some fair weather friends as a result of the Cup run, glory hunters love that kind of thing, but they can drift away just as quickly. Just noticed, Brighton were away yesterday, guess a few people watched their second team 8-)

I'd love to get 1,000 glory hunters through the doors of Nene Park mind you - wonder what all our glory boys and girls do with their Saturday afternoons now??? They obviously don't go to the scum or Knobblers, so where are they? They brought into Max's dream at the time - I guess some people have no staying power ;)

i got the train back to Bedford on Saturday morning and the amount of Arsenal fans getting on from the stops at Leicester to Bedford was incredible, the platform was full of them..

Surely they can't afford to make the trip every week so a £17 entrance fee would probably seem rather nice to them

A fair few decided to watch MK Dons I understand. There are also others including many posters on this site, that follow us on the internet and listen to matches broadcast on Radio Diamonds for free.
Rather than listening to us on the radio and those within reasonable travelling distance of Nene Park we really need them to watch games live.
Perhaps the Beasants will address the high level of admission charges to encourage the stayaways to watch us on a regular basis?

With regards to Crawley.
I have a group of friends who either live or work in Crawley and all of them have suddenly become Red Devils! Two of them come with me whenever Diamonds are at Broadfield Stadium but have not been at any other time. Four even went to Old Trafford...surprise surprise.

To be fair why did most of us start supporting Diamonds in the mid 90's. The answer is obvious..we all want to be associated with success in whatever form it comes.

As much as it galls me to say it Evans has used the money well, whereas it took BT five seasons to get us promoted.

Next season will be interesting. Expect Crawley to be very near the top of League Two all season but any Brighton fans will be at the new AMEX Arena following their Championship team.

For me well I will continue to watch Eastbourne Borough, I just hope they stay in the BSP, after the last two saturdays anything is possible.(I expect them to get a point at Wrexham tomorrow and York on Saturday)

I can see why so many can think that, in my own case it was different (and why, I guess, I'm still here).

When I moved home to where I live now I went along to Bedford Town first, my local side. I wanted to support a team local to where I lived - their supporters were horrid people, made me feel about as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit - truly dreadful unwelcoming people.

Someone at work said "pop along to Diamonds, they're only 15 minutes away from you", the rest is history. We could still be in the Beazer Premier as far as I'm concerned. It wasn't the success I was looking for, just some nice people to watch local football with - luckily I got both.

Even if it all went tits up now, I'd follow an AFC Diamonds side if necessary, hopefully many others would too?

I have no axe to grind with Crawley having money, just the cheat who is spending the unknown backers ££££s - lets be honest, it all smells bad over there and one day it'll all come out !!
