After watching the game on Saturday where once again O'Connor missed a couple of chances to score (win us the game). Does anybody else think that with him being captain he has a lot of pressure on his shoulders and maybe the captain could be someone else Porter/Mills?
I'm not knocking O'Connor as I genuinely think the guy works his socks off for the team/club it was just a thought to maybe lighten his load.

Re: Aaron
I think he has done a good job as captain and should keep the armband. As for missed chances, nothing has changed, I'm afraid Aaron has always been like that, if he wasn't and given his other qualities which you mentioned, I'm sure he would be playing a couple of divisions higher.

I never think a forward should be captain - too far ahead of play to see problems or possibilities and out of touch - just like it is not great to have a goalie as skipper, not involved enough with the play.
Needs to be a central player, in the heart of the team, like a centre half or central midfielder. In our present squad with an unstable back 4, the two obvious players to me are Mills or Porter. I don't think it is any coincicedence that when we lost Stewart our form became erratic.
But there again I'm old fashioned - just take my position on formation... ;)

I'd go along with that as well. Aaron's been one of the better players this season IMO who regularly shows a fighting spirit and plenty of effort. Not sure if he'd benefit from stepping down as captain, I'm sure he'd agree that he's missed too many chances to score this season and should really be a 20 goals a season man.Dukes wrote:I never think a forward should be captain - too far ahead of play to see problems or possibilities and out of touch - just like it is not great to have a goalie as skipper, not involved enough with the play.
