Who benefits from a merger?

Just thinking aloud but I can't see a merger going ahead.

Firstly
Ktfc have a bigger attendance record than us, so why would they move here.
We have a bigger debt than them, there's seems sustainable along as Imraan is involved. Whilst we are in a mess.

Why would they move to Nene Park?
We can't afford it at the minute and they also have a tight budget.

I am not trying to pour cold water on this but I don't see us benefiting them in anyway. Nor would it benefit us.

We also have a lease due to expire, don't we?

It wasn't long ago when lots of people on here seen them in trouble a few months ago and dispelled the merger plan. Now people are open to it?

Let's try to save the club but I don't think this is a realistic way?

In response to your points about KTFC:-

Approximately 20% of K*ttering's gate receipts are handed to Ben Pickering for settlement of the rent on the ground.

The approach has come from Ladick so perhaps they have similar debts that have yet to made public and he is not longer involved with DC Locums so may not have the personal cash you suspect to continue investing in the Ploppies. The Ploppies were struggling to pay the players/staff wages at the end of last month.
They need an alternative ground in the next year or so when the lease expires on the Rockinghorse and Pickering sells it to housing developer since it's prime residential land and any application would sail through the planning process.

Therefore, a merger, would look very attractive from a KTFC financial point of view and would solve many of their ongoing problems.

Nene Park has a convenant in place IIRC that protects the Stadium from any other activity than community use/sport for the next 100 years or so so can't be bulldozed.

As they've apparently said let the fans decide... then I can't see it happening.

At the end of the day, if Diamonds can't raise enough funds in the next few weeks to survive, both clubs i'd say are pretty much going to shit in the next few years anyway, I'd rather had 1 club to support locally than no club.

surely if we cant raise enough funds and then we opt for a CVA, then get relegated wouldn't it be best to groundshare with them whilst we are not in the BSP then we are still raising money to pay off debts etc? :?:

I think people are missing the point. Given what Ladak is like and given the proposed name it is very clear this is effectively K*ttering renaming themselves to 'K*ttering Diamonds' and getting hold of Nene Park.

Yes, but they've sorted out their ground problems through a 'merger' and Ladak can throw money at the playing side since there is an agreement of more than 10 years to rent Nene Park. Over time they'd likely try and buy it, at that point I could very well see K*ttering dropping the Diamonds bit or changing back to Town. So much for a merged club. Now you could argue this happened with us, but Ladak is no Max, money at the time aside, deinitely in terms of trust.

Calling it 'K*ttering Diamonds' means straight away it is K*ttering. There's no & in that name and ''K*ttering & Diamonds' implies Rushden has been kicked out of the relationship.

Anyway let's focus upon saving Rushden & Diamonds. 'Merging' being talked about like it is at the moment is really just giving up on the club.
