KTFC playing at nene park saves us because of the rent we would recieve (yes it would go to Keith, but im sure an agreement could be meet with the club) and saves them because they have a ground. In the long term you cant have K*ttering town playing in a stadium miles away from its name! Other fans moan that nene park isnt in rushden, but at least you can walk from rushden to nene park. Impossible for K*ttering fans. If a merger was to go ahead. I feel a totally new name would have to be used. East Northants fc anyone?PhilM2 wrote:If it is sustainable, then 2 clubs playing at Nene Park sounds like the best option.bozzer wrote:what would you think is worse.
a merged club playing at NP

Re: Merger?!
As an absolute last resort - yes, but would much prefer groundshare if we cannot manage to save RDFC and if we can persuade BSP Board to be more flexible. The former of these seems perhaps more achievable. A new name would go some way towards defusing former rivalries. Personally, as I work with a lot of KTFC fans and have had to suffer their gloating over the last two weeks, I wouldn't want anything that would allow them to claim the senior partnership in the club. Suggestions - Nene Park Rangers? A6 Allstars? East Northants United?

Re: Merger?!
Well I don't know why anyone's worrying, if its going to be up to the fans then chances are it won't happen. There's just so many problems that mean I can't imagine it happening, just the name is a big enough problem, K*ttering Diamonds wouldn't work, we'd still have the 'Diamonds' name but have to support a K*ttering which we'd hate and they'd still get the 'K*ttering' name but would have to support a team nicknamed the Diamonds which they'd hate and East Northants FC doesn't sound right to me.
However, I agree if the worst came to worst, I'd rather have a merged club than no club, so as a last resort its not a bad one. Really hope we can secure the groundshare though, as it could be very beneficial to us and not as horrible sounding as a merger.

Re: Merger?!
I've changed my mind, I would definitely support a merged team calling itself the A6 Allstars

It would effectively BE closure.PhilM2 wrote:[I just prefer the idea to closure.

I'd much rather both clubs reformed and faced each other in the Zamaretto or something. A merger would just be...eurgh.

Man Utd & Man City wouldn't merge, so why should we?
