A merger, because it isn't "our" stadium anyway, it's Keith's - and after a merger it wouldn't be our Club anyway.bozzer wrote:sorry what i meant was.
Which is worse, a merger or us folding and seeing K*ttering play at our stadium

Re: Merger?!
Really good question Phil, for me its an integrity/reputation thing. We're a class above them plain and simple !! I don't want to be associated with a club who has people amongst its fanbase people who threaten women, children and old men. They're a nasty little club full of nasty little people, I want nothing to do with them - I sure as hell don't want to stand and socialise with them.PhilM2 wrote:You want to save your local football club, but what are you actually trying to save ?
R&DFC is my club, its the one I have chosen to support. Unless we die and a phoenix club appears, its the last one I will support. I know you could argue that if Rushden Town and Irthlingborough Diamonds fans had said the same back in the 90's then I wouldn't have had a club to follow - but I wasn't here then, I have been since 1994 and everything I've seen from K*ttering fans in that time shows me I just don't want them anywhere near me.
A good debate though and its interesting to see people's views, its a welcoming distraction from the worrys of survival. I have no idea how we're going to survive, even if we do stave off the current woes, how the hell will we pay the bills next season? But its an admirable effort and those people working hard to save the club deserve all our thanks and support - what I don't think they need is meddling by a journalist spouting thia kind of rubbish.
K*ttering fans will want it about as much as we will, I'm sure thought of a merged club is as disgusting a thought to them as it is to me.

Re: Merger?!
I actually believe the story in the paper has created what is what set out for.
In KTFC terms its set out to once again let local councillers know that they havent helped the club enough and threaten the council by saying the town could have no football club.
In Diamonds terms its about showing local people without some backing they wont have a club at this level.
Its generating interest.
Either way I dont think a merger could or would happen.

You clearly have a lot more experience of K*ttering fans than I do, I have none. To be perfectly honest, I've never been to a game when they were playing. If they are all as thoroughly nasty as you say then perhaps you are right. In that case, maybe there are more cost effective and effective ways of promoting football and sport in Rushden. It seems a shame to loose such a great legacy from Max Griggs, but perhaps thats just the way it is.
