I'm not mocking anyone - just stating that it's very unlikely it is a genuine donation.

This is backed up by the fact that he didn't answer the email I sent him.

So I deleted his region of pixels.

If he genuinely wanted to donate, I doubt this would put him off.

I can only assume that's because the whole idea isn't been pushed as well as it could be. IMO someone from the 'SaveRDFC' steering group really needs to spend a couple of hours pushing this out to businesses, and not just rely on the generosity of other football supporters.

Are you volunteering then ?

There's no such thing as the "SaveRDFC steering group".

There has just been a number of Diamonds Fans (old and young) who were prepared to get up and do something, rather than just pushing out ideas and hoping others would action them. Anybody is welcome to offer practical help - and many did, in many different ways.

There was a hope that nobody would feel excluded from getting stuck in and helping in whatever way they could, as it has always been a huge task that needed everybody who might get involved in a practical way to do so.

It really needs a "let me do that" attitude rather than a "why don't you do that" approach.

My impression was that there were a number of people behind the SaveRDFC Campaign that would ‘Steer’ the efforts in one common direction, hence the ‘Steering Group’, and the set-up of the website.

If indeed it is the case that no-one has yet marketed this idea to businesses, then yes, I will volunteer to try and get this initiative out to the wider business community. I have in fact sent a draft of an e-mail to a number of people on this forum which I thought was the best thing to do at the time due to my impression as stated above. What I did not want to happen was for me to take this upon myself and get material out to businesses only to find that someone else had taken the opportunity to do so, hence appearing to ‘spam’ people that could potentially help us.

I may be in a minority on this forum, because I don’t actually know anyone personally, but have been a poster on most of the previous diamonds forums across the years, and possibly due to the fact that I don’t get to that many games anymore 

If you or anyone else would like to PM me to discuss, please feel free.

Phil

Do you fancy becomnig the "head of PR" for the pixel ads then Phil?

I've tried a handful of local companies and a sports team but didn't get even an email back from any of them.

AK, I'm not a PR or marketing person, more of a finance/business person, but fully believe that if this was sent out with the right 'angle' to businesses then we may see some more sales.

I've just got to figure out the right angle ;)

I will be compiling a list of local companies over the coming days and would hope to have sent out some commuications by the beginning of next week

That's excellent - and perhaps it might encourage a few more people to join those of us who've been rallying round so far - there is always plenty that can be done.

Given that there are so many pixels remaining, it may be worth offering more for the £5. From a marketing perspective, as a company you want to do most of the work for the customer to create the minimum amount of hassle for them.

For their £5, they get a barely visible image on a webpage. Offering them bigger images for their fiver will allow people to see the logo without having to hover over it. Obviously if this was to be implemented, it would have to be kept on the quiet from those who have already purchased pixels as they may wish to get more for their money.

Also, companies always like to get a handle on what sort of figures they are likely to be hitting so (if it hasn't already been set-up) it may be worth setting up a Google Analytics (http://www.google.com/analytics/) account to give precise figures to those interested: it makes it seem a lot more professional as well. If the number of hits on the webpage isn't quite as good as expected, the figures can always be manipulated to make them look more attractive to those who will invest.

Given that this has been running for a fair amount of time already, it would seem that those wishing to donate for the cause will already have done so. The main angle should now be to try and entice potential investors for their benefit as well as RDFC's.

Having so many unsold pixels is no good for anyone so get ride of as many as you can for whatever price people are willing to pay. The club is in such a dire financial situation that we should just take what we can get at this moment in time.
Everywhere we go....

This is the main problem with your idea - it is on the internet and as such is a secret from no-one.
