I don't totally disagree with a merger, but would much rather it not be with K*ttering..........

True, some will leave on both sides, but those will be replaced by new. Yes, your dream may have well ended (I admit it feels sad, I grew up with R&D), but it could have the beginning of a dream for someone else. Life carries on, footy aint that important, and what colour your shirt is, isn't really important in the big picture.Everyweeker wrote:
You cant just rewrite history though - I completely respect and understand the argument made by others on this thread, but I couldn't do it. It would be a new club by your argument, and by definition, not mine. Not that I wouldn't wish it well in the end, but it would be the end of my dream.
Anyway, we will never know now, so I suspose our points are mute.

I have shifted my position on this and see that there are benefits to us all, we have tried before with Max'smoney and it didnt work - we dont have the business nouse, based on whats happened over the last six months I would not be too uncomfortable with a change of name of team/ground and I can put the complete change of culture behind me.
I would not feel too comfortable with a hook up with laadak as he is as unreliable as the Beasants ever where.
Reluctantly I would say yes and look forward to conference football back at NP!

If the diamonds forum did 'likes'. I could not support any other team than Rushden & Diamonds, no one let alone f*cking skettering scumEveryweeker wrote:I completely disagree - share a stand with K*ttering fans and be in the league or go bust and start again watching UCL football -
UCL football please!
Rushden and Diamonds is my club, I'm not joining hands with the 6-fingered bunch up the road for any price! It's not all about winning and success, it being part of a community club you can be proud of, not lumping it all in for some success.

See my post above any new merged club would have to take the league place of the lowest ranked club so unlikely, unless we appeal the Conference's recent decision, that the new club would be in the BSP.Dinky Diamond wrote:

A brave, relevant and honest posting...thank youDownsie53 wrote:Why on earth the vast majority of you were totally against a merger with KTFC.
Would you honestly rather have no club than a joint club with decent prospects?
As things stand, there is going to be absolutely no 'Rushden & Diamonds connections' involved in football next season. However, when a solution was thrown into the mix in the case of a merger with K*ttering, everyone turned their nose up and refused. WHY?!?!
A merged club (East Northants Utd/ K*ttering Diamonds/ Nene Valley FC) would have far greater prospects than either individual club, an (eventually) increased fan base, fantastic ground, increase revenue and sponsorship, media coverage and actractiveness to prospective players. IMO, such a club would be in the football league within 3 seasons.
I just simply cannot understand the single minded stubborness of some of you, and hope you enjoy sitting at home with the Mrs on a Saturday afternoon with nothing to do, no football to watch and an edgy uncomfortable feeling that your stupidity was one of the factors contributing to that.
I have one question " how many Rushden Town and Irthlingborough Diamonds" fans felt the same way at the end of 1991 and still went on to become RDFC fans?????
It isn't a great option and certainly not the ideal route but surely a club built from the best ground in the County would have been better than what we are now facing? It is too late to take the "over my dead body" route and in fact I do think that this has compounded the issue. Had we have considered this route when it first reared it's head a couple of seasons ago all of this could have been avoided.....

You're entitled to your opinion, I disagree with it totally. But if merger is the option decided upon in the long run it'll be without me and yes, I would rather have nothing to do on a Saturday afternoon than share the PDB Terrace with a bunch of supporters I have no respect for.Downsie53 wrote:Why on earth the vast majority of you were totally against a merger with KTFC.

I'm not stupid enough to tar ALL K*ttering fans with the same brush, I've met some (even kissed one ;) ) and they were fine, great banter - but they have a large element who I neither like or respect - do you remember how they behaved in their main stand towards what were predominantly older people and families with young kids? The club did what with them exactly? My first contact with this set of fans happened back in the 1980's when they visited Aylesbury Utd in the FA Trophy, they were losing and caused no end of trouble in the ground, invading the pitch and fighting home fans - my mate and myself were attacked by some for no reason other than they were thugs - and the football club has done nothing to get rid of that element of their support over the years, as proven by their behaviour at our past encounters.
They don't want it either, the only thing we agree on !! If a merged club were to get more than 700 or so supporters between the two clubs I'd be surprised - if its a success, then fair play, I hope you enjoy it - R&DFC would be dead to me though and I'll have no part of it.
I don't like them, I don't respect them and I don't want to be associated with them - end of !! If you do, fine, you have my football club, I'll keep my respect thank you. Insult me and call me stupid if you like, I think you're stupid for suggesting it as a viable proposition so lets call that a draw eh?
For what its worth I think that IS the medium to longer term plan and you'll probably get your wish, but I know I won't be sat at home thinking how stupid I am, nor will I sell out and be at Nene Park.

Re: I fail to understand...
sorry but a merger will take too long to get up and running and that would mean no football at np and rocky ,only way for "football to be watched at np(conference)" is to let ktfc play there ,then next season change the name ,the ktfc option could possibley happen overnight, the longer its left the more difficult this venture will be.can i just make one small assumption,,,im a football fan,i love grass roots football, and loath premiership football, what im trying to say is firstly my main team is arsenal ,but because i cant afford, or get tickets i decided to watch the diamonds,i love the banter of the debank ,and weve had some good times and some bad times, but im ,at the end of the day im a football fan and think its time to move on ,close one chapter ,and start a new......could be exciting times ahead NENE PARK WILL ALWAYS BE NENE PARK ,AND MAX GAVE US THIS STADIUM TO WATCH A SPORT WE ALL LOVE,SO LETS DO IT FOR MAX AND KEEP THIS GREAT STADIUM GOING ,JUST SORRY WE CANT WATCH RUSHDEN AND DIAMONDS,,,,,,,NAMES CHANGE BUT SOULS LIVE FOREVER
