Ground Grading

It's going to take a while to go through all of this, but here are docs related to how grounds are graded. It would be something to think about in terms of future progression if we get a phoenix off the ground:

This seems to me to the crux of the matter - I will be all behind the AFC club and watching matches no matter where and when (assuming we get it off the ground), but if our future aspirations are genuinely 'big' (Conference Status, though I would take North/South at this point!) we will need a suitable ground.

It is all well and good sharing with Raunds/Wellingborough or whoever, but could we afford to build stands on a piece of land not owned by us? Could we reaslistically hope to return to Nene Park if talks of a 25-year private agreeement with IL and K*ttering/East Northants United are true?

Where is all of our future success going to emerge from without our own basic facility?

It's funny you should mention this bit in particular because the freehold of Kingsmeadow is owned by Kingston Council. So by that definition, Wimbledon don't have their own basic facility.

There is a Stadia improvement that can be dipped into for funding, and any agreement we'd make would be to benefit whoever we groundshared with as well as ourselves. Any groundsharing is a partnership.

Given some of the stadium in the Conference last season, it shows that we would not need to have to rebuild Nene Park to get a good grading.

Wherever we start, it will not suitable for Conference Football, or below. But it can be with time.

I don't think Nene Park will be an option for the forseeable future. Pitch 2 isn't even up to UCL standard before it's mentioned.

We're not going to have all the answers in a few days, we've got a year to do this properly and professionally. We may well be looking for obstacles that when we actually look at the matter in more detail, we will find they're not actually there or as bad as made out.

You're quite right on the Kingstionian front, its a shame that Nene Park does exist and so the council wont have any desperation to help out with a new facility I should imagine!

I'm not suggesting any answers will be forthcoming in the next few days, I just hope we can turn some enthusiasm on these difficult questions as they emerge, and ultimately overcome them.

Our club, along with other sporting clubs in the town, met with Rushden Town Council prior to the elections in 2010, when they were all for improving the facilities. Since then it's all gone very quiet.
