I'm not great at this sorta stuff, but I gave it a go on GIMP for a couple of minutes. Something like this?
good effort but i think the intention was to put the pheonix within the rdfc badge (instead of the ball)
... unless im mistaken?

I like the AFC (ball one) as it was posted originally, and a phoenix replacing a ball was also mentioned, but thats far too complicated for me...

Tried my hand at a quick badge, its not brilliant, I’ve had ten years design experience but badges and logos require even more specialised experience, that’s why companies spend thousands on logo designs.

I’ve got rid of the blue check and red lines from the old badge; these have been replaced by the red and blue check from the old Diamonds badge.

I’ve moved the ball towards the bottom and placed a Phoenix on top of it.

I think that is tremendous Stalin - perhaps we should run it by the I'boro fans especially as it their section that changed, just to keep them and everyone else onside. However, of all so far, certainly gets my vote!

I like the idea of a circular badge, but that is decent, Stalin!

Glad it generated some positive feedback; I was pretty much just showing what could be done with a Phoenix included in the current badge.

Having said that, there could be some issues with using this badge in a future design, didn't I read in another thread that there might be a trademark issue with regards to launching AFC Rushden and Diamonds, the same would be true for the badge I would imagine.

I quite like a round badge.

Great effort, really like it.

Is it essential to include the lion and the keys?

EDIT: would you mind if I asked where you got that phoenix picture from? I searched earlier for one and they were mostly fairly shite or too detailed.

Not essential, but it depicts the bond between the two original clubs.

Well the Lion would be the only bit from Rushden Town left if we were allowed to use Stalin's design since the bottom half of that badge is from Irthlingborough Diamonds' old badge. It's from the Sartoris family crest, so I think we'd be ok to include it any future badge, same with the Keys.
