Non League Paper Today

Post by Scarey »

Two things jumped out from todays NLP.

1. With regards to the show of hands at Thursday's meeting, on how many R&D supporters would watch K*ttering at Nene Park, Helen Thompson was quoted as saying it was "50 - 50"!! What meeting was she attending?? Or was I at a different meeting? From where I was sitting, about a quarter put their hands up. Why would HT say this?? Ulterior motive??

2. Keith Cousins apparently said, after selling R&D to the Beasants last December, "I've known these gentlemen for some time now and I know that by passing over the responsibility for this club and all of the staff that are in it, it's going to be in damn fine hands."

Regarding point 2, he certainly said words to that effect, as we transcribed them from the original interviews (I still have the audio) - see http://www.thediamondsfc.com/page/NewsD ... 56,00.html

We can always take what Cousins and his twist on words with a pinch of salt we learnt this years ago.....

"Graham Westley has this evening been relieved of his duties as manager of Rushden & Diamonds Football Club with immediate effect.

The club have decided that performances and team selection do not fit with it's long term plan.

The Club wishes to make no further comment on this matter and the search for a successor for Graham will start immediately.

The Club wishes to thank Graham for what he has achieved during his short tenure at Nene Park."

Wonder what that plan was???????
