Fans are considering starting new football clubs after seeing their teams at a crossroads.
Supporters of K*ttering Town will meet on Thursday and Rushden and Diamonds fans will meet on July 1 to discuss whether to support their clubs or form new ones.
Rushden and Diamonds are in turmoil and have been expelled from the Football Conference while K*ttering Town look set to leave their Rockingham Road home, with Diamonds’ Nene Park their possible destination.
Poppies fan Gareth Watson, 30, said: “I don’t think a phoenix club, as they’re called, is really going to work.
“Where would K*ttering play and what league would they be in?
“If the supporters’ trust wants the best for the club they should support the move to Nene Park.
“I’m all for the move – it’s the only viable option now.”
K*ttering Town chairman Imraan Ladak confirmed last week that the club was looking at the possibility of moving to Nene Park in Irthlingborough.
And at a meeting with fans on Friday, the majority said they would support Mr Ladak’s proposal.
But members of the Poppies Supporters Trust will meet tomorrow night in the Tin Hat Lounge at the club’s Rockingham Road ground at 7.30pm to vote on whether to start their own club instead.
Anybody who is not able to attend the meeting but would still like to cast their vote can do so by emailing ktfc_trust@hotmail.com and requesting a ballot slip.
All email votes must be received by 5pm on Thursday and ballot slips will be treated in strict confidence.
And Diamonds fans are being invited to the Pemberton Centre in H E Bates Way, Rushden, on July 1 at 7.30pm to discuss the future.
Diamonds fan Judith Coton, from K*ttering, said: “I think it’s a great idea if they can make it work – I would happily go and support them.
“There were a lot of people at the meeting on Thursday and they seemed very determined to make a phoenix club work. Even if K*ttering Town moved to Nene Park that would be fine – as long as there’s football being played there, that’s the main thing.”
Rushden and Diamonds have also announced that they will be lodging an appeal against the Football Conference Board’s decision to expel them from the league.
