Re: what a mess
What's Pitch 1, never heard of that before. I guess it's the A6 one, knew there was a Pitch 2 and Pitch 3. It is sad what is happening, but the death of R&DFC is even sadder.

DA I remember it well that time, you could not fart without Talbot knowing about it and the players and coaches knew who was in charge, everything was structured and in place, players were a unit and he had control of their diet and dress, it was tough on players/staff but it got results.
I think that is down to man management and he learned that at Arsenal - whatever wat you looked at it he got results.
I cant say subsequent managers (exception JE) have demonstrated such professionilism and player power was a factor in our being relegated, Barry Hunter (a great player) was nowhere near good enough with his dwarf Geoff harrop they took us out of the league.
Truth is ground is looking tired and needs a makeover!

Re: what a mess
That's what happens when essential maintenance/cleaning is neglected. Work has needed to be carried out for the last 5-6 years. It's the same story with some peoples' houses.Dinky Diamond wrote:

Anyway why should it concern RDFC fans anymore, not as if we ever going to play there again?
It's KC's problem now. He'd better get his cheque book out to protect his asset.

I totally agree with you about Talbot's professionalism. I don't think he was a particularly good manager in some areas, but others, such as professionalism, you couldn't fault him on.Dinky Diamond wrote:DA I remember it well that time, you could not fart without Talbot knowing about it and the players and coaches knew who was in charge, everything was structured and in place, players were a unit and he had control of their diet and dress, it was tough on players/staff but it got results.

The point I was making was that you can't blame subsequent managers for the decline in the condition of the ground, when the finances just weren't available to maintain it properly. Having helped with the stadium cleaning in the past I know that there was no lack of effort on this front, but without access to the right equipment (which doesn't come cheap) there was no way of keeping Nene Park in the state it deserved.

Indeed, all we could do was polish over the cracks so to speak.davealbon wrote:Having helped with the stadium cleaning in the past I know that there was no lack of effort on this front, but without access to the right equipment (which doesn't come cheap) there was no way of keeping Nene Park in the state it deserved.

It makes you wonder if the K*ttering Trust will have similar responsibilities should they move in.Dazzler wrote:Indeed, all we could do was polish over the cracks so to speak.davealbon wrote:Having helped with the stadium cleaning in the past I know that there was no lack of effort on this front, but without access to the right equipment (which doesn't come cheap) there was no way of keeping Nene Park in the state it deserved.

Re: what a mess
Didn't KC say he was about to spend silly money to get it all back in shape? What's happened to that?
I know that a local landscaping firm has been employed by KTFC to sort it out from Aug 1st. I was told about it weeks ago so whether or not it's still in place remains to be seen.

I work in K*ttering three days away, and have to say I can't bear to look now when I drive past. So overgrown, and the sign still up saying RDFC, Your Community, Your Club. :(

I think nature will reclaim the stadium before the Ploppies have a chance to move in. :lol:supersub wrote: So overgrown......
I hope Ladick has factored in all the landscaping/planting maintenance costs into his budget. Another thing that he didn't have to worry about at the Rockinghorse.
Re: what a mess
I though that good old Keith had pledged to spend a sizeable amount of money on the stadium upgrade when the poppies move in?
