Hung Out To Dry 12 - the Supporters Trust

Post by Formic »

This is one of the weirdest stories. At times like these the RDST should be to the fore, helping its members try to get their money back - whether they paid for season tickets or helped the club in other ways. However it appears they are planning to use their funds to support a Corby Town Youth Team, and their chairperson is still actively involved with the Nene Park operation in one way or another.

Perhaps its time for someone to call an EGM and make sure the funds go in the right direction.

Whoa there feller you're going a bit ott with some of your statements on here. The ST committed itself to supporting the Youth teams that were under R & DFC name. Most of these are completely self funding anyway so we're not talking a lot of cash. Warren (of the Trust) said they were willing to stand behind the new club, in fact he pointed out it would take very little to change with its constitution in order to do that.

You do seem to be going off into a one man crusade for everything Formic. That's just not possible for us, therefore a lot of us are pushing to start the new team. We do have total empathy for the creditors of R & DFC, but we were not a party to their negotiations, nor the committing of their monies. If we get involved it'll likely muddy the waters, making it worse. Helen Thompson is NOT the chairperson of the Trust, she is the Secretary, but I believe she's ready to step down (as are a few others, and if you continue to post stuff like this we could end up losing it alltogether as people will not volunteer to be shot at).

I think you will find the Youths are self funding within the Academy setup, to keep playing at the same level and keep the scholarships thay had to be affilitated to a Senior Conference Football team, the only one in this area was Corby Town.

So where are the Trust statements confirming any / all of that ?

I make no apologies for what you call the "one man crusade" - I want to get some of the energy that is being spent on issues like the club name or colours / badge for a club that is 12 months away being spent on trying to help fellow fans.

Surely the Trust should be to the fore on this ?

I too have reservations, I would prefer to have a first team first, evolve that and eventually bring together junior teams across the age range even if they are self funding - it does not sit comfortably with me that Corby Town would indeed benefit from RDFC investement on time/money!

This is not a bad reaction to Corby Town, I have been a visitor to The Triangle many times and hope to see them at their new ground - they could well do a diamonds with the investment they have and get into Blue Square Premier and then compete for a football league place.

I also recognise how absolutely brilliant the CoE and The Youth Team have been particularly over the last year but first things first, lets get a first team out there.

I did not contribute towards the youth element!

All I personally want from the trust now is for them to return the funds I donated in the hope that rdfc could be saved. I am sure that I will get that shortly.

I will obviously leer my solicitor continue to liaise with the administrator but then I shall move on and watch football wherever the urge takes me occasionally. It won't be K*ttering town, or whatever they may call themselves but I will certainly not support another club.

The plan was to contact all of those in writing who pledged their money asking what they wanted them to do. I don't know how far forwards that is, but if I see anyone on Saturday I shall certainly ask.

I haven't heard anything as yet either, but I guess it is still quite early. Where I stand is simple, at this moment in time I'll ask for my season ticket pledge back until I know what is happening with AFC R&D.

When it comes down to it, I'll pay the same amount (£300) for my first season ticket for AFC R&D to help give it a flying start, I hope those that can afford it will do likewise. I will of course throw what money I can afford into buckets etc in the meantime and will watch the youth team until we have a senior club to follow again.

My last discussion with the Trust (Warren) in the middle of last week was that they were in the process of sorting out a mailing/contact with all the people that made donations [cheque/cash], as all individuals were noted during the collection. The remaining trust board were also due to be meeting very shortly, if they have not already done so by now.
