Have you seen this?

I know it's for a good cause, but should the w**kers be making publicity out of you? 8-)

I think you will find Formic put that up for pigman as people still go to the site so may as well push it there too.

I hope nobody thinks that the Beasants would publish anything directly to the OWS ? They wouldn't even have the user credentials to do it. Those of us (all volunteers after Matt Banyard left) that did so would turn their words into reasonable English. As you can imagine there were many times the thought of doing things to support KC or the Beasants grated on me, but I also realised the need to get the statements out to you - hence why I was still doing them whilst many miles away (and why Red Dragon thought I was posting on here at 3am).

On the back of the web work that's now come to an end, I now have various items I'll no longer need - a voice recorder, a full collection of wireless dongles etc, (even a netbook I bought for the purposes of match reporting at cramped away grounds), so I look forward to liasing with whoever will be doing the live reports for AFC Diamonds so I can help them with these sorts of resources.

Sorry Formic, What is happening with the official site now? Will it be closed down? 8-)

Would it be possible to remove all news items from the OWS (apart from Jim's fundraising) and replace them with links to afcdiamonds.com? What are the Beasants going to do, sack you?!

I don't think the Beasants have anything to do with the Club anymore since it was placed in administration so Carter Clark the administrator are the people in charge nowdays i would have thought.

Regarding the question of whether the Official Website gets closed down, I think that depends if AFC want to adopt it or not - AFC Halifax Town have done so for example.

That question might relate to whether people want to see the historic content preserved - notably the match reports, the A-Z, the pictures, videos and the historic stats. I'm going to liase with Dave M about some of this, but there are certain copyright issues, notably with the photos.

Although it has many negative points otherwise, it does have the advantage of allowing a set of webmasters who can update content, rather than just relying on one person's availability, which is often the downfall of these sorts of websites as the demands on people's time grows.

I've taken the precaution of taking a personal backup of much of the content several times since things looked shaky, so it won't be lost if the administrator did decide to take it down (I've had no contact from them).

I think it is essential that the A-Z of past players and historic record of results are maintained somewhere. After all these are the ashes from which we are arising ! As Tony says, if we can adopt and adapt the official site it would be easier as several people can work on posting information and news. It would be easier in the future, also, if we have one official and one fans' messageboard site as at the moment it is rather confusing with people posting in several different locations.
