Match Day Pizza Offer

Post by Mad Dog »

Pizzeria Venezia are one of our Sponsors for the 11/12 season and will be providing pizzas for the players and officials at all of our home games at the end of each match. Fans are able to order pizzas before the game and at half time from an ‘ordering point’ within the bar and these will then be delivered around 9.25pm-9.30pm in time for the final whistle.

The service is being run by AFC R & D and delivery is free but payment needs to be made at the time of ordering your food. Menus will be put out in the bar before the game, and further info can be found in the match day programme. If you wish to view the menu it can be found here http://www.pizzeriavenezia.net/Take-Away%20Menu.pdf

That's a superb idea and the kind of thinking that will give other potential sponsors food for thought. I don't doubt that Pizzeria Venezia see this as an opportunity to make money, but if they can benefit off the back of helping us out financially and giving the fans a service as well, I think this is a great idea.

It's not just about making money. The original owner, Don Cormano previously, and the current owner Caesar now, are avid and genuine fans of R&D, and were boxholders at Nene Park from early days.

I was talking with Caesar about AFC last time I was in Rushden, and telling him all about what were then just plans, and he said then he'd do anything to help if he could, so this doesn't surprise me... and I'm glad it's mutually beneficial, rather than "just" a sponsorship deal, because it shows that it isn't all about "Take, take, take" when it comes to AFC R&D, which might encourage other local businesses to get involved.

Has anyone approached PW House, Jeweller (or whatever he's called) the guy who used to sponsor match days and match balls and provide trophies for R&D?

The deal is better than you think, Caesar will "donate" some of the pizza profits back into the club, it's a win, win thing 8-)

We had 6 orders last night that were ready and collected in time for the end of the game. Thank you to those of you who took advantage of the offer.

We will be running this at every home game and I need volunteers to act as the ordering point in the bar before the game and at half time - if you are willing to help out, please PM me. Thanks.
