Re: R & D Trust AGM announced
To be honest i do not want the meeting to desintegrate into a post mortem of the demise of R & D. Gone, done, bored, had the tee shirt etc. Yes we all have personal views and lots of baggage.
The question is whether the Trust and its members are willing to commit their limited financial resources to the new AFC R&D club and all it stands for in the future.
To faciltiate this you need some form of true accounting statement. Plus the attendance of any Trust member who remotely supports AFC R &D to show the extent of our commitment. It might not yet be what we had or feel the same or be the same. But it is the nearest we will ever get to our legacy which for some goes back beyond R & D and 1992. When the cuckoos removed the name Peter de banke I realised what the longer history means to so many and the sacrifice made to merge two old established local clubs.
I strongly believe AFC R&D offers the best chance to reignite the legacy in the communities. That is why I believe the R & D Trust has a duty to support this best opportunity to maintain the legacy.
Just think how passionate I could be if i was actually from Rushdenshire and not Lancashire!

Frankly all RDST Members should attend even if they believe they have been betrayed or dislike any of the Trust Board as your vote may be needed with regards to the AFC Team getting funds from the Trust.

Re: R & D Trust AGM announced
I shall be attending the Trust AGM, travelling up from Sussex. I want to know what is going to happen to any funds the RDST still hold.
Any Trust member who has any desire to see AFC R&D succeed should be present and make their views known. Surely whilst the Trust still exists we the members should be voting in which direction it is to go, and that in my opinion is to transfer all funds to the new club NOW.

I didn't go to the last meeting they held, as I was already feeling betrayed by certain people who would be attending that meeting, but as I understand it from the reports people gave of the meeting, the majority in attendance were in favour of supporting the K*ttering move to Nene Park!
That's another reason why I won't be attending their meeting (which I think will be a charade that will restrict itself to discussing the accounts), and why I've become an AFC member.
The bold underlined is just not true in my opinion (yes, I was there), the question was (as it was at the meeting with KC), "do you want to watch football at Nene Park?" Of course the answer was yes. That did not preclude supporting KTFC there.
I agree over the accounts bit, they're vague at best and some of the numbers look like they've been input twice for the same thing.
I shall be attending the meeting and I urge all Trust members who are AFC supporters to attend.

That now infamous show of hands regarding continuing to watch football at Nene Park also came after we were told that Ladak was acting as a white knight for RDFC at the Conference AGM. Quite appropriate timing you could argue?

Since the accounts supplied with the letter mean little of nothing, I fear we may find there is nothing left in the bank. If there is, I also fear that not attending the meeting might mean that remaining funds do not come the way of AFC R&D, I will go, my vote could be crucial!
I have low expectations, and do not want to go over old ground, but it would be good if the Trust could be 'put to bed' and some funds directed to the AFC.
I would urge as many Trust members that now support the AFC to go and make sure we have a voice, and a vote

As I said, I wasn't there, but based my comment on a posting from someone whose opinions I trust - BalloonMan - on this thread - http://www.thediamondsforum.co.uk/viewt ... f=2&t=3617Three of Diamonds wrote:Formic wrote:I went to the Trust Meeting that Chammie refers to - the gatecrashed meeting - and agree with what he says regarding the debacle over the accounts.

BM's point about only 1% of the Trust Members at that meeting being in support of the Phoenix Club is significant too.
Re: R & D Trust AGM announced
The context is important here though. The 1% vote (which I can't actually recall being asked for a show of hands on) would have come after being told that the someone had contacted KC with the suggestion of starting up a phoenix club but had subsequently given up over a lack of support. When you view it in that context it's not surprising that people would view the phoenix as a non-starter and our "friends" from KTFC as an option

I wasn't involved in the AFC R&D meeting with the RDST, but in fairness to the Trust I'm told that the meeting was a positive one and that they seemed happy to support our new club. Warren, at least, has been to all of the AFC R&D fans meetings and I've seen him at several games as well.diamond donald wrote:Since the accounts supplied with the letter mean little of nothing, I fear we may find there is nothing left in the bank. Regarding their finances, I believe £15k was mentioned, but don't quote me on that.
