Desperate measures.....
Re: Desperate measures.....
The Poppies revenue from league games must be way down with all of the discounts - and they will have had a lot less from away fans revenue now the prices they pay have been slashed.
Similarly for the FA Cup, they can only justify charging the discounted prices, so revenue will be well down on what was budgeted. I'd expect to see a huge hike in prices if they draw a big club in Round 1.
Quite how all of that pays the bills at their two grounds must be down to Mr Ladak's generosity.
(They'll surely get through next weekend - it's the same as if a Non-League Team travelled to a Premiership ground, and I don't think a non-league team has ever won on a top tier ground in the FA Cup).

They'll win by a cricket score next week (providing they can keep 11 men on the field) and everything in the garden will be rosy, they'll probably have a fantactic cup run, pull in Man Utd away, make a million and then herald project Nene Park a success............ wouldn't ya just hate it if that happened?

Indeed. There's almost a competition within a competition to see which Conference Team can get into double figures with home advantage against Step 5 (or below) opposition -
Gateshead v Hebburn Town (Northern League D2)
Grimsby v Ashington (Northern League D1)
K*ttering v Southend Manor (Essex League)
Tamworth v Kings Lynn (UCL)

Re: Desperate measures.....
Aren't Ashington two divisions above Hebburn? I had a little look at them last week as i'd never heard of them (I may be wrong). Your point still stands though I said on the grass roots forum that those teams will have a field day. Be mighty impressive if Hebburn/Southend/KingsLynn made the first round though. When was the last time a Step 5 (or lower) side reached the first round propper?Formic wrote:Indeed. When K*ttering get through I hope they draw something like Macclesfield away. ;)

Hebburn have played more cup games than they have league games this season - with more to come.

I'm not convinced it will be as easy as people will be making out for K*ttering next week

Re: Desperate measures.....
OR, only 500 turn up as no one expects the lower placed team to win, and they're not a big draw. Southend win a scrappy 1 -v- 0 having "played their cup final" and the Poopies all jump off the new bridge in despair. :lol:PigmanRDFC wrote:They'll win by a cricket score next week (providing they can keep 11 men on the field) and everything in the garden will be rosy, they'll probably have a fantactic cup run, pull in Man Utd away, make a million and then herald project Nene Park a success............ wouldn't ya just hate it if that happened?
