I certainly wouldn't say the Wobblers hammered us, they were clearly the better side but we made them work hard for that victory. You say it could easily have been double figures - perhaps, if every shot they had went in, but most of their efforts were half chances from around the edge of the box. To our lads' credit they gave them very few clear cut scoring opportunities, and we even had a couple of half chances of our own in the opening stages.easystreet wrote:Sorry for disagreeing lads but I canot believe the posts on here are reporting about the same game I was at last night.
I know if you have nothing positive to say then say nothing but Northampton hammered us for 90 mins.
We never looked like scoring and if they could score themselves when the opportunities arrive it would have been easily double figures.
It was no where near close as the other posts suggests, we struggled defensively and down the left and right Northampton tore us apart and we done nothing up top, mainly due to the lack of service and the fact we chased the ball for almost 90 mins and Northampton kept it so well.
Speaking to the Northampton parents this was not there strongest team and they also trained for a few hours during the day so that shows we are miles behind clubs like them.
Bird was great, how far can he go is my question, aim high I would say.
All in all a lesson learned in many respects.
I was really proud of the team last night, we competed for the full 90 minutes and that was all we could ask. It was great to see several familiar faces for the first time this season as well.
