Desperate measures.....
Re: Desperate measures.....
I think Pigman is spot on. Is it possible that the blueprint is to follow the example of what Winkleman did with MK Dons? If they make the name change and take the resulting bad attendance for two or three years but invest and get success on the field then maybe the now combined populations of East Northants might be tempted back - justifying the whole set up after all. If the comments regarding FA cup runs and past glories still draw fans then maybe there are thousands of potential fans out there.
Offering an olive branch to AFC by letting them play on pitch 2 would do no harm in all this either.

I agree that's why I started a discussion earlier in this thread. If the S&E building is under utilised then it would make sense for AFC to consider it.Arendee wrote:

I don't want to preempt anything that the committee will be presenting to members on the 17th January for the proposed venue for next season but I cannot see better facilities close to the Rushden/Irthlingborough area for saturday football that don't already have another club with a reserve side already playing there.

From what i have seen the Sports centre is very little used apart from Sat morns for the Gymnastics, i have never seen the 5 a side used since we went west. If it wasn,t for the Nursery i don,t think the place would exist

I just want to add my voice to the "Not Pitch 2" opinion. I don't want to enter that site ever again, it's completely tarnished and it would kill AFC for me.
Oh and re: K*ttering news today. LOL, relegation and a bunch of asset strippers in the spring! Perfect.

I can appreciate people's feelings on this one. But without their own piece of turf I find it difficult to see how real progress can be made for AFC even if they are able to negotiate a ground share with a club with a suitably graded ground. This is the biggest challenge that faces AFC in the future.Sara Pascoe wrote:I just want to add my voice to the "Not Pitch 2" opinion. Who knows what the future holds
Allegedly Raunds have made the decision not to allow you to stay there next season so if you want to compete in the UCL Div 1 there arent many options locally that will meet the grade apart from Thrapston and Rushden & Higham
If they dont pull off, it may be either have have pitch 2 or have nowhere. Then what would people choose.
Stay alive and line the pockets of those you feel ended your club or fold??

'They' relates to the acting committee who are putting together the options to present to members at the forthcoming meeting.Sara Pascoe wrote:
