Would K*ttering be where they are now if it wasn't for our former owner ? As I have said before - either IL's incompetent and been had big time or he's willingly played his part in a grander scheme.

I'm sure the move to NP has worsened their position a bit quicker than if they had remained at the Rockinghorse but they would be only 15 months away from the lease expiring in any event. The landlord there was looking for a substantial increase in the current rent which may have actually been similar to the reported £150k per annum for using NP, without the opportunity of commercial activity these premises could make if marketed correctly. My own thoughts are that Ben Pickering and family were looking to get the ground vacated to enable the site sold to a developer to coincide with a possible upturn in the residential market over the next 2-3 years. Pickering's son has always viewed RR as part of his pension pot. ;)

I don't know anything about Rockingham Road, but I do agree with the question that Luckyfour poses - and am surprised the Poppies fans still aren't asking it, despite all that has been unearthed recently about the instability in finances even before the Nene Park move. I've still to hear a valid case for how the Nene Park move might have worked, and given there were lessons to be learnt from the Cousins / Beasant season (as well as the RDFC Trusts failure to run a club at Nene Park), I'm amazed so many believed it might work.

The Poppy faithfull were presented with a Hobson Choice scenario at the Wickies meeting.
Perhaps they also thought that RDFC Trust/Cousins/Beasants were not up to the mark and could make a better job at 'sweating the facilities'. There are even a few on Ploppynet suggesting NP's commercial facilities could still work if run and marketed correctly.

I think the other point to make is that even if someone comes in and does a deal with Ladak, are they going to be able to keep the club going at NP anyway with the high maintenance costs etc?

Who knows, Chris. We could see NP was looking tired and reckon it needed quite a bit of maintenance and the only way the commercial facilities could work is to employ proper, trained personnel from the hotel and hospitality industry and even then NP's location might be a possible disadvantage.

The other thing that all this does is draw attention away from who the "consortium" actually are and what their intentions may be.

Poppies fans will be so glad just to see the back of Ladak that the illicit product of a gangbang involving Myra Hindley, Hitler, Osama Bin Laden, Gadaffi and Timmy Mallett would be welcomed with open arms and few questions asked.

it's always needed someone with ambition to take the place by the scruff of the neck and work the facilities. previous owners hadn't got the time or wouldn't employ anyone to do it.
i also agree, the location holds it back. if you've got to drive there, then you can't drink. another revenue halved.

Do you remember when the Club decided to open Strikers Bar in the evenings a about 2-3 years ago?
We couldn't even get the locals from Artleknock to frequent the place. The night club venture was a one night wonder and Cousins, for whatever reason, hasn't proceeded with the hotel development.
