I remember quite a few people saying that we should've bid £100k after that season. Clearly none of us knew how shit a state our finances were in at the time...

Not true at that time, in April 2005, we would have had the first stage of Max's handover £750k dowry and Billy's anticipated goals might have prevented relegation to the Conference the following season. It was the Autumn 2006 that finances deteriorated following relegation.
Anyway it's all water under the bridge now.

Will be interesting to see if Billy can find the onion bag on a regular basis to halt the slight drop off in performances by the Saints. They looked odds for promotion 6 weeks ago but are now back in the mix.

The story that I've heard is that Scunthorpe knew he was a decent player and would have outbid us even if we had put up 120k so it's all what ifs really.

I was working in Doncaster earlier in the season and went to see Donny play Leeds in the Carling Cup. Saw Billy as he was going into the stadium and had a quick word. Mentioned I was a Diamonds fan and expected a 'I had a great time there' or 'the fans were great'. Instead I got the blankest look ever! Bad times! To be fair I probably shouldn't have started the conversation with 'I love you Billy, if only we'd signed you for 120k we could still be in the league' :D Billy wasn't my source for the above story btw, he was far too busy running away injured leg and all by this point lol

Apparently he should have scored 4 or 5. Good effort nevertheless.

Tbf, I tweeted billy a picture of him celebrating after he'd just scored THAT goal, and he did reply to me 'good memories.' :D

Makes you wonder where all those "fans" in the background have gone doesn't it?
