It can happen....
Dunno if it's been mentioned elsewhere, but this gets me so excited for next season and the years to come - Congratulations to Chester FC http://www.chesterfc.com/page/LatestNew ... 19,00.html

It is a great story, they've done exactly the same as AFC Halifax.
Fortunately for both those sides they continue to play in their own stadia, whereas we're trying to start up elsewhere. In that sense I think it would almost feel like you're still watching your club, with us I think it will feel like something totally different.
I think they were also allowed to start at step 4, when we might have to make do with step 6.

They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

As soon as we start a few songs up and the new team run out it will feel like Rushden & Diamonds because we weren't and aren't about the stadium, we have (and have already proved this) a spirit among our supporters that a lot of clubs would envy.BartonRaz wrote:It is a great story, they've done exactly the same as AFC Halifax.

We have had a slap in the face from every angle in the last 12 months and we're still fighting... and indeed you point out another one Raz - this year is the first in history that a reformed club cannot apply above step 5. So I guess it will feel different but IMHO better, because the team will be 'ours' in a way that most supporters do not get the chance to appreciate. Yes its hard work, yes it may not be as glamorous as it was in the past and yes it will take us a few years to get to the heights that Chester and co (I do not personally site Halifax as an example because they are not a community-owned club) have reached but we will get there so long as we all believe that we will..... and I believe because there is more than enough evidence in our flegdling club to suggest that times are set fair for the future!

Given the FA have changed the entry rules since they were backed into a corner by Chester, it would be interesting to enter a debate with them about why they no longer believe in their previously stated criteria which was :
"To provide clubs with a level of competitive football appropriate to their playing ability, stadium/ground facilities, economic means and geographical location"

I remember another goal at that ground, not that many years ago, from similar distance (albeit at the other end of the pitch), which also secured promotion.
