Good to see Aynsley McDonald involved. What odds he'll be playing for us next season. ;)
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

The lads have already committed to next season, so should make for consistency and bodes well for the future 8-)
Re: New AFC R&D Academy
Great to see Aynsley involved , but i have also heard that Nick Cook is a great coach as well. This is from a lad who is at Corby now but had been at Diamonds sinc he was 9.

Re: New AFC R&D Academy
All of this season's Under 18s will be too old for next seasons Under 16s. Some of them were Under 16s this season, but next season will be Under 17s... hope that helps rather than confuses :lol:discodunk wrote:great news thisbut i have a question.....what is happening to the lads that are here already as some of them are only 16 now/and will be at the start of next season, will they have to play in their age group and also do they have to attened the trials,i know they should but i just thought id pose the question ;)

Re: New AFC R&D Academy
It's another piece of the jigsaw in our plan to be the community football club in East Northants and really offer football for all. It's important to remember that players development is increased when they are playing with and against opponents of a similar standard. All too often football for all is seen as offering football for the kids who wouldn't get a game anywhere else but it has to included the more advanced players as well.
Currently SRJFC's more gifted players leave us and go to larger clubs where the coaching is perceived to be better.
Now they will be able to stay within the AFC R&D family and progress with top class coaching. We also hope that those players whose passions for football slows a bit but still want to play will be able to join one of the grassroots youth teams rather than leave football totally, as happens in most cases now.
