Ah Mr Foster, I will remember him he was the one that late in the home FA cup game against Leeds shut his eyes and headed wide at the far post with the keeper beaton. If only.......

Yeah I remember that like it was yesterday - if I remember rightly he'd scored something like 25 goals in 26 games at the time as well.Mat.H wrote:Ah Mr Foster, I will remember him he was the one that late in the home FA cup game against Leeds shut his eyes and headed wide at the far post with the keeper beaton. I think it was 13 in 13 at that point. He had had a spell out injured so had missed a few games.AndyKirkup wrote:Yeah I remember that like it was yesterday - if I remember rightly he'd scored something like 25 goals in 26 games at the time as well.Mat.H wrote:Ah Mr Foster, I will remember him he was the one that late in the home FA cup game against Leeds shut his eyes and headed wide at the far post with the keeper beaton. And his header went over not wide. ;) He also hit the post from 2 yards inside the first minute!

I also remember him missing, but wasn't it quite early on in the tie?Mat.H wrote:Ah Mr Foster, I will remember him he was the one that late in the home FA cup game against Leeds shut his eyes and headed wide at the far post with the keeper beaton. If only.......

Both actually, from what I remember he almost scored in the first minute in front of the De Banke, his effort just brushing the outside of the post (although there was a defender to clear it off the line if it had gone the other side of the post). In the last minute he headed over when it would have been easier to put it in - missed a golden opportunity to be the first non-league club to know out a Premier League side that day :roll:ChorltonV wrote:I also remember him missing, but wasn't it quite early on in the tie?Mat.H wrote:Ah Mr Foster, I will remember him he was the one that late in the home FA cup game against Leeds shut his eyes and headed wide at the far post with the keeper beaton. Re: News on a Former Diamonds Player
But it gave us the experience of going to an almost capacity Elland Road, and scoring that first goal. Our end went mental that night, and it has to be one of the best experiences I've ever had as a Diamonds fan. Especially when Chrissy Whyte came on to say farewell to Leeds, I had a lump in my throat.
