Am I right in thinking...
John Ruddy is the first and only player to play for Rushden & Diamonds, to be called up for England?

I was thinking the same earlier, although can't confirm whether he is or not...TwinkleToesTomlin wrote:John Ruddy is the first and only player to play for Rushden & Diamonds, to be called up for England?

Ruddy was so appalling whilst with us, I try to forget that he was an R&D player.

Re: Am I right in thinking...
He was great for Cambridge United at an even younger age and that's why he commanded a £300k fee from Everton. However, as I posted earlier he was so poor for us that his one month loan ended early and he was sent back to Goodison Park.
Obviously since then a transfer to the Canaries has seen his stock rise and he probably deserves his place in the squad as the third choice goalkeeper. Unfortunately, apart from the excellent Joe Hart we are very thin on the ground in this position with Green, Foster, Carson and Kirtland all coming up short and even Jack Butland, the standby keeper for the current squad hasn't yet appeared for Birmingham City and has been on loan this season at Cheltenham.
