Re: Holwell Sports (A)...
I was stood next to a Holwell fan in the second half who turned to his mate and said 'they just look like footballers' - thought that summed it up really.
Our lads look like players who've just failed to make the grade as pros - which of course 50-60% of them are, whereas Holwell were organised but lacking in any real ability. The way we moved the ball around today was great and it was the same on Saturday, you can tell they've been taught the right way.
MOM for me was Dent, thought he was busy and calm on the ball.

I'm liking the extra long shorts, we're trend-setters, soon all footballers will be wearing shorts that go down to their shins.

Or maybe we've just signed a bunch of short ar*es ;) :lol:Sara Pascoe wrote:I'm liking the extra long shorts, we're trend-setters, soon all footballers will be wearing shorts that go down to their shins.
"are they long shorts or short longs Mr Chumley-Warner"

Still loving the kit, and very encouraging to hear we played some good stuff last night.
Its difficult to gauge with friendlies as they team chops and changes so much, I think judging by the quality we've got that the hardest job Starms and Peaksy have got is keeping all the players happy .......... they're not all going to get a starting place regularly - good problem to have though !!

I'm reliably informed that there is absolutely nothing deliberate in the size of these shorts and we are not trying to make a fashion statement. The kit manufacturer decided to send out all shorts in one size XXXL.Sara Pascoe wrote:I'm liking the extra long shorts, we're trend-setters, soon all footballers will be wearing shorts that go down to their shins.

However, the players will be getting more sensibly sized shorts in the next delivery!

And these will be passed on to the U9's who will use them as a shelter when the wind starts blowing at the OG's on a Sunday morning   :lol:Trek wrote: However, the players will be getting more sensibly sized shorts in the next delivery!

Actually this is a cunning plan by the Chairman. These are special wind-resistance training shorts (better than parachutes as you wear them for 90mins during a game). Come the start of the season when we have the proper size shorts, everyone will feel that much bit quicker. May even put Alfie sub-10seconds.Sara Pascoe wrote:I'm liking the extra long shorts, we're trend-setters, soon all footballers will be wearing shorts that go down to their shins.

'A mistake by Snelgrove seven minutes later let in Morgan to open the scoring, and Holwell could have gone two down soon after when Devon Elwood was allowed to break in from the right and his shot struck the outside of the post.'UttoDiamond wrote:Terrible write up here if you're interested:

He only came on at the start of the second half, it was Alfie Taylor who hit the post. ;)
