We were by far the best football team, but Lutterworth were very solid at the back and we were very wasteful with our attempts on goal. Came on strong in the last 15 minutes and the introduction of Morgan made the difference. Nice little ground at Lutterworth and I enjoyed my visit.

Er, shooting practise required perhaps? ;)

Finished 2-2 after we were 2-0 down with about 5 minutes to go. First half was truly desperate. We were lucky to still be in the game, and as I eluded to in an earlier post our offside trap wasn't working at all. Lutterworth looked more assured and used the ball far better.

As always the second half was considerably better and aside from their goal - which looked extremely suspect from a defensive point of view - we were totally dominant. If it wasn't for our poor finishing and at times ridiculously selfish play we could have ran away with it. The less said about the ref the better. I'm convinced he thought he was playing as he was constantly in the way of proceedings.

Not surprised we didn't see Smethers today as he didn't look particularly great on Tuesday. Of the other trialists I don't think Pendered has contributed much in either game, but McBride looked useful at times.

A couple of things concerned me today. Our final ball was really poor all afternoon and until the subs came on, it looked like Wisniewski was the only midfield player attempting to help out up top. Alfie and Devon looked really isolated and Alfie inparticular was evidently frustrated. I'm not sure if George Cox has done enough to deserve a start next week against Thrapston, but if he does then he's got to be in there with Dent IMO, who has arguably been our best player this pre-season and provides an attacking threat from midfield. I'm also concerned about our lack of height and experience but hopefully we can hit the ground running next week and we're able to pass our way through teams. We saw against the likes of St Neots, Peterborough and Holwell that the lads are definitely capable.

As for Lutterworth, thought their set up was really quite good. One of the better grounds we'll visit this season for sure.

It was certainly a far more enjoyable game that the draw in midweek, but it will be interesting to see who lines up in central midfield next Saturday, and what impact that partnership has - it could be one of the keys to our performance next season.

I picked up on this very slightly in my post but I too will be watching that situation with interest. Clearly MS believes it to be a problem, hence the succession of trialists despite other central midfielders being in reserve.

I really like Dent, for me he's been one of the standout players of pre-season and has performed well in every game and I think we can all agree with that. He's in.

Beyond that it's anyone's guess. I admire Cox's work rate and willingness to get stuck in but he's not as creative as the others. Johnston was technically sound but I get the impression that Starmer doesn't fancy him, he was certainly laying into him during the Luton game. McBride looked like he could be a useful addition but it's hard to judge on one performance. As for Brady, he played relatively well against St Neots and scored but has disappeared from the first team since.

We were too deep today in the first half. I'd like to think that with the attacking threat that we pose and the experience we have at the back that there's no need to play with deep-lying midfielders.

Having seen the thrapston team last night I would play cox and get him to pick up their number 10 who played in the hole and ran the show for 60 mins. I think if you stop him playing we would have enough to beat them.
