R&D website
Has it now gone for good?
Just tried to visit it to get a few stats to help with an article and it doesn't appear to exist anymore :(

Re: R&D website
Yes, it appears so. The format of the Perform Group websites has changed, and obviously that site wasn't included in the upgrades.
As I mentioned a while ago, the content has been preserved in case this happened, including the updates to the Player A-Z that have been made in the past year, and an archive website is now under construction which will hold this A-Z, plus the key stats and match reports.
I suspect a few enterprising Diamonds fans, especially those who need to do research for journalistic purposes, will have taken their own copy as well, but I hope to have the new site, in at least a basic format, ready for public eyes in a fortnight or so.

I'm pretty sure you weren't able to copy/paste from the old site, so it would have taken over a year to have print screened everything, I think! A year or so ago, Dave Mason sent me the lists of when players made their debuts/last appearences etc and the entire list of club matches.
You will be a hero when the archive site has been set up, Tony!

Copy / Paste was only disabled in Internet Explorer - so Chrome was useful for saving the more recent updates, but the orginal copies were taken with a couple of website archive programs, neither of which did a complete job, but between the two of them the content was saved. The player list you mentioned is to be the index to the player A-Z entry, and the match list will be the index for the match reports. although we only have the reports from 2001 to 2011.
If there is anything you want access to in the meantime please let me know.

Re: R&D website
Indeed, perform group aka premiumtv had been going through a massive website programme (which again seems to have been very unpopular with clubs due to the lack of flexibility, similar to the old diamonds layout). I assume the old sites been switched off as part of that upgrade programme.
Also the webmasters access on the old passwords etc seems to have gone suggesting its kaput now.
Well done to Tony and Dave for keeping an archive, what's planned for the archive site? A few ideas I'd like to see:
A detailed club history
A results and match reports archive
A-z of diamonds/ player profiles
Stats archive
Photos with the match reports and profiles.
I think these would make a fitting legacy site to preserve the old clubs history, hopefully appear nice and high up the search rankings and obviously nudge new visitors in the direction of the new club.

Re: R&D website
The original diamonds player was part of the central football league agreement, so all the highlights then were provided via the league (and itv at the time) so i'd imagine with the turning off of the website, as the club never had those highlights packages in the first place they'd be lost.
Conference era we had to try an create the highlights, however as I'm sure everyone knows the challenges in finding the time and resources to do a decent job made it hard (plus to be honest once out of the football league diamonds player was never going to make any money, so was never a high priority)
Some of the highlights are probably on mine/ Ollys / other volunteers computers. (happy to help if required for archive site Tony), I've got a handful of DVDs of complete matches in the loft too, although pretty much only obscure conference games from the last season.
Gary Mabee made a lot of the videos so may have an archive if he kept a personal copy.
I know there were hundreds of complete matches on DVD and VHS tucked away in cupboards at Nene Park, I wonder what happened to them - hopefully they're still sat there, wouldn't be surprised if they went missing however - it'd be a shame if so.
I wonder what happens with rights now the clubs no longer in the perform agreement, for instance if footage was to be uploaded to YouTube and then a link added to the relevant match report article on the archive site.

Re: R&D website
I'd pay for a copy of the Oxford 1st leg and the Grays 5-4 game from 2009 if anyone has them (or just the goals - particularly the Oxford one, with original crowd noise)?

I think we've already put a reasonably comprehensive set of highlights on Youtube, and it's a good idea to link to them from the new site. I went through the old VHS season highlights tapes and extracted some of the more interesting games and put them on Youtube, and when I realised the Perform group didn't even offer video archives of our football league days I uploaded some of those too. A few other people uploaded highlights during our second spell in the Conference, such as Gary Mabee - but highlights were quite few and far between then !Southstand wrote:The original diamonds player was part of the central football league agreement, so all the highlights then were provided via the league (and itv at the time) so i'd imagine with the turning off of the website, as the club never had those highlights packages in the first place they'd be lost.

I don't have those I'm afraid, but one of the most entertaining recordings of crowd noise is on the DVD of the 5-1 game at K*ttering in March 1997. The DVD doesn't have commentary, but the K*ttering neanderthals are in full voice until the goals start popping in.Sara Pascoe wrote:I'd pay for a copy of the Oxford 1st leg and the Grays 5-4 game from 2009 if anyone has them (or just the goals - particularly the Oxford one, with original crowd noise)?
