Re: R&D website
Personally I liked Talbot. I know several people who met him outside of the club and once he found out they were Diamonds fans he always went out of his way to speak to them, and even Terry Westley said he was an arrogant man - however you could not fault his professionalism. Times I saw Talbot out running around the back lanes of the countryside, he practised what he preached.

No idea and don't care, but he delivered me some of the best years I've ever had following Diamonds and for that alone he rates above JE(MS) as a manager in my opinion, like I say, I don't like the bloke, but he delivered BIG prizes - football is, afterall, a game of opinionstherushden wrote:if he was such a good manager, what has he done prior or since rdfc?

Re: R&D website
Talbot was an average manager at best, how much money did we have to throw at winning the Conference when managers like Jan Molby and Steve Cotterill did it on small budgets.
As soon as the money ran out Talbot was off and was a failure at Oldham and relegated Oxford from the football league. The bloke is a chump at best

Re: R&D website
I don't see the relevance of doing that surely we're only talking about what's happened at our club? NONE of our previous managers have done much since leaving.therushden wrote:if he was such a good manager, what has he done prior or since rdfc?

Re: R&D website
There's no doubting Talbot did a great job, but I don't think he would have done half as well had he not had Max's money...
I'll always remember Talbot coming out of Strikers before a game & walking over to my brother and me, and happily signing an autograph book.
Then the time he personally responded to a letter I wrote to him (I think it was after the Leigh RMI game, where we lost 1-0).. I wasn't happy about the poor referee we had that day)
Justin will always be my favourite manager though.

You won't be able to name many managers that have had success without financial resource.diamondgeezer1 wrote:There's no doubting Talbot did a great job, but I don't think he would have done half as well had he not had Max's money...
Re: R&D website
Talbot was the guy that sorted the entire structure out at the club, from youth through to first team, we had not got the right set up prior to his arrival, he worked hard and got the results that the budget expected. Not a huge fan of his, but i respect the changes that he made to the club. We said for years that he had to finish his bottle of water before he made any subs lol.
Still Say that Van Der Veldan had the most amazing ball control of any player at our club.

Not forgetting the famous "Talbot kick-off strategy", straight into the corner to force the opposition into a throw in deep in their half :lol:Dirty Boy wrote: We said for years that he had to finish his bottle of water before he made any subs lol.
