Away support this Saturday!?

Post by Diamond_ Wolf »

Ok people, its our first ever away league game so lets sure that we show the UCL our excellent away support! if you know someone that is not sure if they are coming along or not then drag them along and buy them a pint to persuade them ;) I hope that we will take 250, is this realistic?

Straight choice, I think, between this and Harrowby for me, and leaning towards Harrowby.

Hope we get a good crowd for our first trip, however.

It is, by some margin, but my limited knowledge of UCL seems to indicate Harrowby may be more of 'threat' than Wootton (without jinxing Saturday!)

Having said that, if anyone wants to meet me in say, Oxford or Swindon, and pay for fuel from there, I'd be well up for it ;)

250 - think you're hoping there ;)

I can't make it but will be going to Harrowby with one or two others.

We had 285 at Kempston last season on a Thursday night, so I don't think 250 is too optimistic, I'm hoping for 300.

I'll be pleased if you do get that many, guess it's local so could do. Harrowby away will be a different story I imagine, but who knows ;)

Out of interest do we know how many Thrapston supporters attended last Sat? I'm guessing we don't have the facility to break down away fans do we?

I'm sure someone will produce some stats to disprove this but I always used to think how poorly supported we were away from home, particularly towards the end when the home support tailed off. Certainly compared with the other sides that had fallen from the football league we were no way near.

It was always the same old faces. I vividly remember being stood with about 15 others away at Eastwood in what turned out to be one of the most entertaining Diamonds games in years. Not exactly a massive hike. Even Histon away near the end I don't think we took much more than 100.

Taking into account the wave of optimism and the close proximity of the clubs id like to think we could take 250+ to Wootton but id be surprised if it happens.
