Whitworths Junior Cup game rearranged...

Post by BartonRaz »

Seems like an odd one, a Junior Cup game taking precedence over a league game. Any reason for it?
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

Yes all FA competitions wether national or county take precidence, but if both clubs agreed on a midweek date that would be acceptable wouldn't it?

Not according to the FA, cup games are held at the weekends, and only replays can be held in midweek 8-)

I think it's great.

This is because it is us. It is where we have come from. The youth should be really important to us.

A Saturday U18's game is a great fixture to have, it means we can get a good crowd in to cheer on the U18's lads, give them a taste of what they can expect if they make it to the first team. The motivation to train harder, apply themselves more, and get the rewards of playing in front of the crowds at senior level.

As we have 19 teams in the league I'd expect us to have a couple of free Saturdays through the season (unless the fixutres man has been very kind to us). I'd love it if we could arrange some U18's games for these Saturdays if WTFC are away. Or even an away one if they are using the D&D. Obviously we need the opposition to agree, but it would be amazing for the players. Even more so now we have the terrace up, somewhere to congregate to make noise from.

Have I missed something here why are we playing the U18s?
With respect to the lads , the big ugly blokes from Whits would murder them. Can't imagine the NFA will be too amused either.

Top post mate.

Except this cup is junior in the sense it is not the senior cup for clubs from steps 1-5.

I.e. it is a first team game ;)

Ahh whoops! Misunderstood from the name of the cup!

But the point stands that it would be great to get U18 games on the free dates in the season...

I'll just go hide back in my corner now...

I'll probably go to it, though disappointed as Potton was going to be my last home league game before going back to uni and I doubt we'll get as many for this one as we would have done for a league game and it means it would have been nearly 2 months between our first and second home league games.

Does this game have ET and pens if it's a draw after 90 mins?
