Like many people, I was very disappointed that we were unable to take our place in the FA Youth Cup this season - especially as the `rule` regarding acceptance only after appearing in the Vase first seems to have cropped up only recently.
However, what I am really annoyed at is the fact that K*ttering Town ARE being allowed to play in the competition when they haven`t even got an u18 team!!
They are due to play Leighton Town next Thursday and are using Tresham College`s academy to represent them.
Surely this can`t be right?
I have emailed Steve Clark (competitions secretary at the FA) because this cannot be allowed to happen.
We now have it also as an agenda item for tomorrow`s NSYL management meeting.
Several of our lads attend this academy and most of the others play for other NSYL sides. Therefore we come up against the old scenario of lads being cup-tied or having to decide who to play for - or even worse - we may see players `representing` KTFC having already played in the FA Youth Cup for their NSYL side as no checks are ever done by the FA with me (as registrations sec for the league).
We will have a similar problem soon with the NFA County Cup as several of our players are at the Corby Town academy and we`ve been drawn against them, so decisions will have to be made there also.
It will be interesting to see what happens with the KTFC situation in the FA Youth Cup, although knowing the FA, very little I would suspect!!
