Alfie Taylor
This lad is obviously very talented, but looking to the future, if he is hitting 30+ goals this season, possibly more at the rate he is banging them in, are we going to be able to keep hold of him in the future seasons? He could be vital to promotions chances imo.
On another note, great win today, our fitness & winning mentality really seems to be showing in the 2nd half.

Re: Alfie Taylor
I guess the only person that can answer that is Alfie himself!! Does he want to go places with us and be part of our hitoric story or does he want instant glory? I trully hope it's the former.

Re: Alfie Taylor
Alfie just loves his football. If hes enjoying himself, he'll stay.

Re: Alfie Taylor
Well the fact he dropped 2 divisions just to join us means that despite what level we're at, he definitely wants to be here playing in front of big crowds with a good chance of success and while he is undoubtedly capable of playing at a higher level than the UCL div 1 or the prem and has done, I'd be surprised if he would want to leave a club with 500+ fans for a club a few leagues above with only 200 fans, so fingers crossed he'll be at the club for seasons to come, he could be on his way to becoming a club legend and we're very lucky to have him

Alfredo could have played for any number of higher level clubs, but I think he bought into the idea of the club, the challenge and is enjoying his football . He`s relaxed, sharp , confident and in a rich vein of form, and well on his way to becoming a club legend. He seems to get on with his team-mates , what`s not to like.?? Long may it continue.

You'll just have to keep buying the matchday programme to see what he had to say when he was asked about what his ambitions are ;)

Re: Alfie Taylor
Alfie is a quality striker and if he keeps bagging goals the way he is will obviously attract attention - but he could go onwards and upwards with us to be honest and become a real legend at the club.
Delighted for Deven today, I said the other day all the lad needed was a goal, and he's proved it 2 in 2 now - watch out Alfie, he's after ya ;)

Re: Alfie Taylor
Sure, but it's not always the smaller clubs decisions to keep their players as we know, we have to remember how far down the leagues we are and if a club comes in with a nice contract for him, what is going to stop him taking it? Most people would, family, ambitions, etc could all play a part in it.Duke of Wimbourne wrote:mattreddan wrote:This lad is obviously very talented, but looking to the future, if he is hitting 30+ goals this season, possibly more at the rate he is banging them in, are we going to be able to keep hold of him in the future seasons? Most we can do is make the players feel welcome & keeping hitting home the point of where we are hoping to go as a club.
oh, and keep paying them 2.5k a week ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) :ugeek:
Re: Alfie Taylor
I know Alfie reasonably well as I signed him for Wellingborough Town after he had been released by K*ttering as a 17-year-old.
He soon made the first-team at the D&D but for some reason the crowd started giving him some awful stick - especially from the stand - and in the end it destroyed him, resulting in him leaving for Cogenhoe.
Back then the Doughboys were getting similar crowds to ours now and the secret to getting the best out of Alfie is to continue giving him the `love` from the stands and terraces - he`ll keep scoring goals then and will certainly not go anywhere else whilst things keep going as well as they are - who would?
