I honestly can't understand the mentality of not wanting to go because it's a cup that can move league games to a week day! Yes it's whitworths! Yes they disgraced themselves on and off the pitch and I'm sure will try to do so again... But come on, be thankful of the important things like the fact we have our club and enjoy the fact that we have football to watch on a Saturday!
I don't feel like I could go because I don't want us to win. It sounds really weird saying that but it's true.
What is the incentive to do well in this competition? A 'day out' at NP? I appreciate that it gives fringe/youth players a chance to play some first team football but most other clubs have reserve teams for that. I don't know if I'm completely misreading the Junior Cup but it sounds like a showcase for Northants Combination players to me.
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

Agreed. It just seems like a clear bad thing to progress in this tournament and that feeling is why I don't really feel like going. I only went to the League Cup game because I wanted to volunteer, at 2-3 I was happy for the score-line to stay the same and I also felt weird feeling like that. With the Vase there's the prospect of bumper gates and good prize money (whoever wins it will have made £30k overall) but with this? I've enjoyed the league games so much, it annoys me that our momentum in that very important competition is being halted for this crap.
Hopefully MS will put out a reserve/youth side and play it lightly, I'd hate to see an important first team player get injured.

Spot on, no matter what the game I'll be there.
I still think we can win a cup and get promoted 8-)

Mind you, with alot of rain forecast this week it may not go ahead!
I'm going on Saturday. I see in the latest highlights away at Rothwell Corinths that Starms says Aynsley wont be playing but it's an opportunity for Danny Bird !! Great news if Danny is still with us, although possibly a bit rusty, it's a good opportunity for some of the younger players to get a run out for the 1st team, so I'm looking forward to it.
Just my opinion, sorry guys, but Raz and Rob I think your talking bollocks (for want of a better word.) Doesnt matter about the competition, its a game of football, which is there to be won! It could be another trophey in the cabinet and the end of the season!!
A true outlaw finds the balance between the passion in his heart and the reason in his mind. The outcome is the balance of might and right.
I agree, we should be delighted if we win any silverware, they all count. How many of us would have thought winning the NYSL cup would have been so rewarding, for that matter how many of us had even heard of it before last season ?!
Plus the attractions of real ale in Dale's bar, a possible re-appearance of Danny Bird and hopefully a chance to re-acquaint ourselves with Whitworths player whose name I can't remember but for the purposes of identification can be referred to as Bruce Lee or Hong Kong Phooey.
