Do people think this has been true in general?

I watched a side today who have won a Step 6 league twice in three years, are doing well in their Step 5 league, have made the 2nd Round of the Vase and were beaten 2-1 by Bath City in the Cup after taking a second half lead.

In short, they are a club that, on the field, we need to aspire to (they also play lovely football).

Their manager and assistant are constantly loud for 90 mins, advising players when to close, make runs, look for a pass, pick up a free striker - and I'm certain this is a real key to their success.

Have we been too quiet? I never stand near the bench, but it strikes me that at Step 6, more than ever, players need guidance on the pitch. Not to mention they need to be fully motivated, which seems a real problem at the start of games.

As disappointing as the result was today I can't see how anyone can say Oadby and Sileby would turn us over. Sileby also lost to Eynesbury and Oadby, I'm sure, would be disappointed to have lost at home to Harrowby today. The management need to take stock of the situation to overcome our shortcomings, and possibly change the formation to make us more creative in midfield. As soon as Dent and Taylor are able to return I'm sure we will see better all round performances. In the meantime I would play Ellwood in a deeper role, as as been suggested, to see if he can create more in midfield.

Yeah because he took bloody ages to take the shot! Me and the Duke were right in front of it and he really did take his time. Fact is he's been poor since he's come back from holiday and he hasn't looked like he's wanted to be here. I don't think you can go overboard when you lose 4-1, it probably should've been at least 5-1 and if the Eynesbury players hadn't have been time wasting a 4-1 they probably would've gone on to score a few more. We were poor as and it's been a terrible week, 2 points from 9, when at least 6 would've been expected. We have a good team and it should be top 3 even with its deficiencies. I feel really crap right now, I know it sounds bitter but Eynesbury weren't that good I thought. They did cut us open several times but it's not hard to do that, Thrapston did that on the opening day! If we'd been playing Sileby today we would've been absolutely dicked, 7 or 8-0.

It seems that Starmer didn't want to be interviewed after the game today and that's just not on. You face up to your defeats, in the same way you bask in your victories. I think this squad (minus McDonald, Quincy and possibly Newman) are good enough for promotion, but I'm not sure on the manager. I'm not starting 'Starmer out' but that was abject and it comes after two pretty poor performances and I want some signs that things will change.

Oadby lost 2-1 at home to Harrowby BTW so that's fortunate. I can see Sileby absolutely walking this league. (Maybe I should've stayed off the laptop like Pigman!)
Your post just goes to show how rumours spread on message board. Mark gave his interview, after having had the courtesy to warn he needed five minutes sorting things out first. He was as honest and open as ever - look out for it when its uploaded.

I know Sara is a big fan of Justin Edinburgh - but he used to keep us waiting for ages after a poor performance - and then sometimes sent his deputy - waiting until 5:45 to speak to a stand-in at a freezing York springs to mins.

Good stuff, if starms was on his own i would worry about his choices, but he has andy and scott who have seen and done it at this level, i would just like to see more on field guidance. Glad im not the manager god knows what i would do sort it all out

Sileby have the manager and at least half the team that won the UCL Prem with Long Buckby last season

Didn't Long Buckby's financial backer also switch his allegiance to Sileby or am I mistaken?

That wasn't bad although I heard that Eynesbury were apparently were a little disappointed so I guess they thought they might get 500-600. However, I still think that's a good turnout for a cold , wet day.

Whilst I knew it was going to be the end of the world as we know it because we lost today on here. Where were you in relation to me to suggest Starms didn't want to give an interview?, that was not the case at all and to suggest so is NOT TRUE.Starms came out and apologised to the fans for today's performance. He came and talked just like he did when we lost 7-0 at Cogenhoe last season.
