[ Sat 27th Oct ] v Eynesbury Rovers KO 3pm UCL1 AWAY
Re: [ Sat 27th Oct ] v Eynesbury Rovers KO 3pm UCL1 AWAY
First post in ages but seems the right time. Wasn't there yesterday and very disappointed like everyone,. I genuinely fancied a bounce back yesterday....even tipped 4 2 so my footy tipping still as sound as ever.
Have to say though bit disappointed with some of the posts and not just last night's. Some great points made and good analysis of our weaknesses...I'm pretty sure Starms knows them only too well and works on them with the team. The thing is its players on the pitch that play the game, and there is another team out there trying to do their stuff .
I think we have some good players good management but just maybe a lot of people got carried away by our start, our support etc and think we are better than we are. My assessment taken over all our games is we are top 6 material, with potential for top 3. It's what I thought at start of the season, but even I was excited by early results and performance. I think we will continue to have mixed results for a while but will get better and finish strongly.
So let's keep it constructive, lets not heap more pressure on players and management, and lets enjoy the ups and downs...that's real football, not unbeaten for our entire history.

Disappointed with yesterday of course, but we will bounce back. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but we're not cut adrift as some seem to be suggesting - but as it always said on my old school reports we "could to do better".
We now have a week off to regroup and hopefully will come back with all guns blazing against WTFC in the KO Cup next Saturday.

Woeful, depressing, poor decision making, poor finishing, all
Words which sum up yesterday, we all know it, the players know it and the management know it
From having the best defence in the league all four goals could be blamed on each of the back four, joe who has been immense this season gave the ball away for their 2nd, Sam brown, man of the match last week made a mistake for their third, a massive bad day at the office all round.
Let's hope yesterday was last years ON Chenecks or Cogenhoe and we learn from it, we are better finding this out in October rather than march.

Re: [ Sat 27th Oct ] v Eynesbury Rovers KO 3pm UCL1 AWAY
I didnt go yesterday, yes poor result HOWEVER:
I always seem to read up to match reports on the forum, look at the updates of the match on my break at work (thanks to the people who take their time and do that) and read all the aftermath when i get home and the following morning. My god is this getting depressing or what? Yes i can understand peoples frustration at a poor result, but its only one or a couple in october...
This is a team that has only been together for a few minutes compared to some so need time to come together, I went to a few of the under 18's last season and its exactly the same. Give them time and it will happen, but miracles cant happen overnight.
And all this about promotion im the first season, are people being serious? What makes people think that is even possible, I mean yes were AFC Rushden and Diamonds but a name dont make a new team come together in a matter of a few games. I read the pressure topic the other day and i dont think its pressure people are applying, i think more of an expectation for them to win every match(and to me pressure and expectation are two different meanings)
If i was to be honest there is a very slight fraction of me (and i mean very slight) that i hope we dont get promoted this season becasue i dont think the team is near ready. Surely getting a tighter grip on reality and getting the team more stable is far better that getting promoted then relegated the next season. This is going to be a very rollercoaster season with many ups and downs so we will see what developes, but i remember posting when this all came together a top 5 finish will be an achievement. After all thats happened and all thats developed i hardly think a top 5 finish will be disasterous. I always go by the saying you have to walk before you can run!!
Obviously this is my opinion and everyone is entitled to theirs, the last 3 match reports on here has been depressing reading, but can the overall season view not be a bit more positive, I mean the bottom line is we are back in business

Great post.
If people are going to make knee jerk reactions at one loss, then they need to wake up 8-)
This is our first season as a senior club, we do not have a divine right to win the ;eague, if fact I was talking to thier assistant manager before yesterday's game, and he said it was unfortunate that we had started in this division this season, because it is the strongest he has ever known it 8-)
Don't panic people we will get it right, and as a community club, all of you that are members and want to make a difference, then you will get your say and can vote us off the board if you don't like the way things are going...............simples 8-)

Now everybody is entitled to their own opinions, but it's this mindset that I just can't get my head around for so many reasons.corby diamond wrote: And all this about promotion im the first season, are people being serious? I have to take issue with the "are people being serious?" - yeah people are being serious! We've got players that have played way above this level and excelled and we're giving our players financial incentives unlike many other sides in our division. Do you honestly think Mark Stamer thought to himself before the season started that he'd settle for another season in UCL Div One? Hell no!
We'll get it right in time i'm sure of that, but we should never be getting stuck at the first hurdle.

Re: [ Sat 27th Oct ] v Eynesbury Rovers KO 3pm UCL1 AWAY
I agree, I made this point on the way back yesterday. We're all extremely happy to have a club back, to be playing on Saturdays etc. However, we can also at the same time, be annoyed that we're not doing as well as we'd hoped. I want promotion this season and I think that's what the management wants, seeing the team we have. I'm completely serious, we all derided the other UCL clubs for getting on our backs for showing ambition yet now some of us are saying 'well I don't mind staying in the UCL1 for another season'. Come on, we can get promotion. There's one good side in this league, I think the rest are beatable, so let's not get really down about our prospects on the season and suddenly say we'd be fine staying in this division.BartonRaz wrote:Now everybody is entitled to their own opinions, but it's this mindset that I just can't get my head around for so many reasons.corby diamond wrote: And all this about promotion im the first season, are people being serious? Im with barton and sara on this, there appears to be two camps, one who seem happy that the club is there so they can chat and drink etc, and the other that wants to see ambition to go up, i suspect the later is general joe public supporter, i may be wrong though.
Both camps are both right, we just need to merge us, which by looking at some of you could produce an abomination
