Could have been worse...it could have been Whitley Bay :x

Not bad for a pub crawl though, and great Fish & Chips at the Magpie 8-)

Perhaps best get our own adopted Geordie Zapatista Biff, to point out the best places (or more importantly, the places to avoid.)

You'll be lucky to get rail tickets from Peterborough to Newcastle for much less than £90 - £100. My son did a few years ago by booking a couple of months in advance and by buying two singles for about £20 total cost and the other week he enquired when he visited us but despite working for Virgin finds that it's not financially viable so driving now is the only practical option. Takes about 3 and a half hours provided no hold ups from Newcastle.

Going by train, you can get 2 singles going from peterborough to morpeth which is 5 miles away which is £62.

But the last train from morpeth to peterborough is 17.52... Id be sweating if the game went into extra time

Could be worse, for me it would be £111 and a 6 and a half hour journey if I could afford to go

But as much as I wanted a draw away to a random club on the other side of the country we've barely heard of, this is a really difficult draw against what is clearly a good team in the toughest step 5 league there is, and its got to be the first game we've had where we won't be favourites to win it. Obviously if you want to get to wembley in this competition, chances are at some point you'll have to beat a NL team, but we will have to be at our absolute best to win this one and the defence will really have to tighten up after Saturday's game, otherwise we could get comfortably beaten.

And another thing, there will actually be some home fans for this one, as they have an average of 200 this season (although not uncommon for that league, even if you ignore Darlo, there are some very decent attendances in the NL for a step 5 league), so for the first time we won't have a situation where the opposition are potentially intimidated by a large crowd. I see they've got a relatively new and quite smart little ground as well. Still, really looking forward to seeing what happens in this one.

I did some research earlier on split ticketing from Totnes, took the one-way price from about £106 down to £40 - I suggest people do this for every rail journey they plan!

Forgot split ticketing and my god you're right, splitting the journey into 6 (from Bangor this is), I've managed to get £111 down to £32

Though it is still complicated with a few changes, taking into consideration things like last trains, catching advance trains requiring everything to be on time, but will think about it as this is a big game that's for sure.

My concern about this game is whether we'll be able to take a full squad if they have to travel on Friday and get back late on Saturday / Sunday. Those with jobs may struggle to get time off - or lose wages for the week.

If you split P'boro to Doncaster, then Doncaster to Newcastle, depending on which times you go for (and it would have to be advance), then its £40-50, with £6 extra to Morpeth.
