Absolutely No-one....

Post by Downsie53 »

is even mentioning us in the promotion pack!
i've been trawling the forums and BBC 606 and we aren't mentioned once as possible play-off contenders!
one example of what i've read is 'oxford to win it, guarantee play-offs will be between stevenage, wimbledon, luton and york/K*ttering if they can get their ground issue sorted'.
strangely, i quite like this, if teams and fans aren't talking about us, hopefully it takes the pressure off of JEMS and the team and we can sneak in quietly!

I agree. The fact that no one is expecting anything from us makes our current achievements even sweeter! :D

Agreed, at first it annoyed me, but now i prefer it, the less we as a team talk about it and the less the media picks up on it, the more satisfying and enjoyable it will be to grab a spot and completely suprise all the doubters, and then on the other hand if we don't quite make it...which hopefully wont happen, we have still had a good season and not collapsed through hype and expectation in the media.

I'm still surrounded by Luton fans at work who are convincved they'll be in the play-offs and that we will fade and wither, my boss is convinced that Luton will probably be runners up or better, he refuses to believe they will not be a top 2 side this year..............blind passion????

I like being the rank outsider, the under-dog, the ones who no-one rates, takes the pressure off us.

We have already far exceeded my expectation for the year but in true football supporter style, I now want more. I will be GUTTED if we don't make it to the play-offs now, then I'll be GUTTED if we don't make the Final, then.................you can see where I'm heading here :D

JEMS is a great management team and I don't underestimate one jot how much the MS part of that isd influencing things. Let's hope we can keep it going and wipe some smiles off those smug faces eh? Especially those of the scum down the A6 !!

Its actually quite amazing people are not including us tbh, we're 3rd in the league, we're the second highest goal scorers, we have the best current form in the league, i'd say we should be 1 of the more certain names on the list.

I can see why some people may include some of those teams ahead of us - bigger teams, bigger budget, arguably more ambition etc... but the likes of K*ttering and AFC Dons?

At the end of it, if it works in our favour I couldn't care less. Better for us to be ignored at this stage and prove them wrong come the end of the season. ;)

I've read quotes from JE in the paper saying that no one fancies us and that we're dark horses. Like all of you I like things this way and it makes a refreshing change from our 'conference big spenders' labels of past.

If i'm honest I didn't expect anything out of this team at the start of the season. However 2/3's of the way through a season when we're 3rd in the league and top of the form table and still being written off by other teams....well thats just arrogance from the other 'bigger' teams. Still the bigger they are the harder they fall!

Listening to the non league show tonight, the presenter on there tipped us as the one who could be a dark horse.
