Obviously gutted about losing the game, but there is no shame in losing to a team like Oadby, the simple fact is we weren't good enough.
Thoroughly dislikeable "home" fans though.

Haven't criticised any players yet so far but I think today is the day. After a good game v Buckingham lance Allen seems to have gone backwards and I'm very disappointed with Matt gearing seeing as where he's come from, I've only see him have one good game! Have always been behind Quincy and althought he can't really be blamed for the goals, he doesn't talk and fills nobody with confidence. Having said that I think the defence were ok and desk in was solid, just think we were let down by the midfield and least Taylor got back on the goal trail!

Didn't see that coming. If you'd have told me before the game we were going to lose 5-1 i'd have laughed at you.
Whilst we were arguably the better side in the first half and 5-1 flatters Oadby, there's no doubt who the better team were. Some of their players were far far too good for this league and far too good for us. God only knows what Jon Stevenson is doing at this level.
I think 3 possibly 4 of our lads looked considerably out of their depth today in such a big game. Not worth naming individuals but i'm sure MS has learnt one or two things about his players. I've no idea why Alfie was on the bench.
It pains me to say it but promotion this season is now a massive ask - I know they've had a couple of draws and a defeat this season but they don't look like the sort of team who are going to drop silly points against the likes of Burton and Wootton. That's two teams that have torn us apart now and we're yet to play the pacesetters.

For much of the first half it really felt like we were going to come away with 3 points, it felt like a goal was going to come sooner or later, we came so close several times, Newman nearly chipped the keeper twice and only our finishing was letting us down, but then they scored with that super strike from Stevenson (who was very good today and his experience at a higher level showed) just before half time and obviously that had an effect and we collapsed in the second half and looked clueless for the rest of the game, very disappointing.
5 points behind Oadby now and the promotion places, the games against them and Sileby will be absolutely crucial now and we can't afford to drop many points at all between now and the end of the season. Looking at Oadby's fixtures in the programme today, they've got a tough run of games in a few weeks with Bugbrooke, Eynesbury and Sileby in succession, so hopefully we can make up some ground on them then or hope Sileby have a drastic turn of form, still plenty of time left though.

I would be interested to know the reason behind Taylor not starting, we looked the better team team in the first half but was shocked how we caved in during the second.... Can only hope the management team sort this out quickly before we lose further ground on those teams above us,
Promotion looks a long way off at this moment sadly.
Also please as a family man with children can we look at ourselves and our support, we were amazing as a group of fans today, but using the C word in front of so many children is totally unacceptable and does not do our club any favours.

K*ttering lost 5-2 today, which has slightly improved my mood.
We need a much improved performance on Tuesday.
It was their cup final, I doubt they'll see a crowd like that again.

I understand Quincy's booking being for kicking the ball away, but what was the free-kick given for?

Well he was a bit off the pace on Tuesday, so imagine that may have been the reason but I was very disappointed at him being on the bench as well, we needed someone of his quality on for the whole match, not just the last half and hour and it was too late by the time he had come on. And where are Merrill, Wizz and Dent, could have done with them as well.real diamond wrote:I would be interested to know the reason behind Taylor not starting, we looked the better team team in the first half but was shocked how we caved in during the second.... Obviously disappointed today, not being at the game I can't really comment on individual performances, but I do still think we really miss Dent in the midfield.
McBride and Gilsenan are very similar players, both defensively minded, and maybe Brad Harris will prove in the next few games he is a bit more attacking, but we do have a bit of a weak link in midfield with no creativity or pace driving us forward.
I think Alfie needs time to get back to full fitness, maybe starting on Tuesday will do him good, but we do still miss Dev and Wizz, ideally Dev would play upfront with Alfie, while Wizz would start on the wing.
With the fantastic form that Newman and Morgan have been in, it would have been difficult to drop them, still remember that Jake has scored proficiently recently, scoring alot of vital goals for us.
Allen and Gearing will need a bit more time to jel in and find their feet, as did Gilsenan when he first arrived, and he's been very good when he's played.
It WILL be tight at the top this year, but Oadby and Sileby will drop silly points as we have done, and we are yet to play Sileby, a good result against them on the 26th would put us more back in it. Focus has been shifted off of 1st to a promotion place, and with a bit of hard work and support, we could probably snatch it.
