You can't drop Newman, he's scored 8 games in a row before yesterday with a few man of the matches. Starks is going to have to make him and Taylor work up topelvisgirl wrote:I am informed that Alfie Taylor prefers to play up front with Dev Ellwood. He laid many goals on for Alfie at the start of the season It appears Dev has fallen down the pecking order. Like Sean McBride Dev will run over every blade of grass during the match. Much of this would go unnoticed. If Alfie is to start scoring goals on a regular basis, Mark will have to decide which pair of front-men are the most lethal. Newman/Morgan or Taylor/'Ellwood. I also think Dev could be a good midfielder for us

Re: management bashing
Dev has been injured since the Wellingborough Town game, and had an operation just before Christmas. Yesterday was the first game he was fit enough to take a place on the bench. As I said in an earlier post, take a look at the subs bench last Tuesday - we had to put a youth team player on there to give us 16 available players.elvisgirl wrote:I am informed that Alfie Taylor prefers to play up front with Dev Ellwood. That's just stupid from a General Manager. We just need to print that out and post it in the dressing room before they come to the D&D.BartonRaz wrote:Cryptic comments by Oadby General Manager Jeff Stocking on our Facebook page:

We don't even pay. Silly money.
It's also extremely ignorant as Starms has a proven track record of developing players and Peaksy and Biff have managed at UCL level as well.
With regards to the money comment, he's done well to get to know what money we are paying players, because I doubt all but a few on here know.
Re: management bashing
I do wonder why we have an Official Facebook page - it's been proved at many clubs that facebook and football don't mix, in the similar way that they all dabbled with official open forums and had to distance themselves from comments on them.
There's too much scope for trolls to score points - and more discriminating people have seen the risks of using facebook, notably with identity details being shared all over the internet, and steer well clear anyway.

It's a good marketing tool for us. An easy way to communicate with almost 2000 people in an instant.Formic wrote:I do wonder why we have an Official Facebook page - it's been proved at many clubs that facebook and football don't mix, in the similar way that they all dabbled with official open forums and had to distance themselves from comments on them.

I was very disappointed with Oadby's facilities and expected better. Surely they won't be allowed in the UCL Premier without serious improvement to their ground?

In what way does a "marketing tool" benefit us? Does it bring us a regular income? I'm not on Facebook, all I ever hear is bad stuff about it, so to me it seems the negatives outweigh any positives. I don't "need" it.BartonRaz wrote: It's a good marketing tool for us. An easy way to communicate with almost 2000 people in an instant.

Same here, Robin. I give 'faceache' a wide berth.Three of Diamonds wrote:I'm not on Facebook, all I ever hear is bad stuff about it, so to me it seems the negatives outweigh any positives. I don't "need" it.

Re: management bashing
It benefits us because we can inform 2000 people about upcoming fixtures, results, fixture changes etc. People need to actively look at out website to be informed on such issues whereas on Facebook we're informing them. The only problem we generally have with Facebook is the constant bitching and sniping on the UCL Facebook page - totally unrelated to us.Three of Diamonds wrote:In what way does a "marketing tool" benefit us?
