Team played really well last night and should have bagged a few more. Buckingham were a zillion times better than the reverse fixture and put us under real pressure for a 10-15 spell in the first half which we coped with well.
Jake's shoulder popped out, so looking at least a couple of weeks for him to get back in action. Luckily he's not a keeper so shouldn't be too much of a problem. We have a great squad though, didn't really miss Joe or Matty tonight and the bench was still strong. Dev and Ben just slot in like they've never been away and Lance looked threatening as well.
It's all coming together nicely, just wish Alfie would find his scoring touch again!

The third goal killed it, I wonder if they were mindful of the 9-0 as they seemed to accept they weren't going to win and played damage limitation. That said they were much better than when we played them in Bletchley.
The Gilly goal-line clearance apart they didn't really test Ash.
There were lots of positives tonight, a clean sheet, a good performance from Aaron King. Sam Brown and Sean McBride giving the usual 9 out 10 performance that see from them every week, Alfie getting 90 minutes in his legs and Elliott and Wizz getting more match time following injuries.
Hopefully Jake's injury won't keep him out too long. I think Alfie's trying too hard in front of goal and he just needs a goal off his backside to relax and they'll start flowing again.
When you think Joe Merrill and Matt Gearing were rested totally today it reinforces what a strong we have.

To put this into perspective Brackley Town's home crowd against Gloucester City in the BSN was 169 and this was off the back of a fine goal less draw against league leaders Chester last Saturday which put them in second place in the league. Chatting to Andy Peaks last evening before the match I was predicting a low crowd and thought we would do well to exceed 350 and we both agreed that mid week floodlit matches didn't attract the level of support enjoyed 15-20 years ago which I feel is a real shame. There now seems to be a generation who prefer to either watch televised football or Emmerdale. :evil:BartonRaz wrote: Only disappointment besides Newman's injury was probably the attendance (342?) although given the weather, time of year and opposition it's probably not unexpected.

I think it was a better crowd than we expected, on a cold february evening, with snow falling in the afternoon, I would have said we would be lucky to get 250 last night so it was a good attendance.

I quite agree - and there was an excellent atmosphere created by those sheltering in the PDB Terrace that kept us hardy souls standing pitchside warm. ;)bozzer wrote:I think it was a better crowd than we expected, on a cold february evening, with snow falling in the afternoon, I would have said we would be lucky to get 250 last night so it was a good attendance.
There will always be a few moaners and doom-mongers at any club - but I think we are better than most in this respect, as many of those types were weeded out in the final years of R&DFC.
I thought the players were a credit last night - the pitch must have been really energy-sapping, but they kept chasing down their opponents for 90 minutes, and with a bit more luck in front of goal might have at least equalled Saturday's score.
A special thanks must go to those that sorted out the pitch ready for the game - hopefully when we next play at the D&D its in a better starting condition.

I'm not saying it was a bad attendance however it was considerably our lowest. We managed 559 against R&H last month in similar conditions with no away support to speak of.
There's nowhere i'd rather be on a cold Tuesday night in February than at a football match but I can understand why that doesn't appeal to some.
I thought St Neots attendance last night was bad (176) but that Brackley figure is embarrassing to be honest. Puts ours into perspective.

I'm not sure I agree with "considerably" - we only had 383 for the Bugbrooke game and 399 for Raunds. I think the R&H game created extra interest - as we saw at the Hayden Rd game.BartonRaz wrote:I'm not saying it was a bad attendance however it was considerably our lowest.

Well we can argue all week about what represents a considerable amount, but at the end of the day it was the lowest. ;)Formic wrote: I'm not sure I agree with "considerably" - we only had 383 for the Bugbrooke game and 399 for Raunds. I'm not moaning by the way, just stating a fact.

That's an interesting question.Trek wrote:Does anyone think we lose possible attendees by broadcasting live commentary of the match over the internet?
