I raised it several times standing on the PDB on Tuesday evenings during the last couple of seasons of RDFC existence at Nene Park and found it very strange that the Ploppies have embarked on live internet match coverage of their games at a time when they need as much money as possible through the turnstiles.BartonRaz wrote: That's an interesting question.

I'd be surprised, maybe if we were broadcasting live video over the internet it would be possible we'd lose potential attendees, but I can't see anyone choosing just radio commentary over actually watching the game live tbh.Trek wrote:Does anyone think we lose possible attendees by broadcasting live commentary of the match over the internet?

Is that just your perception as a young fan but have we identified the target audience when we decided to embark on live coverage of our matches?Olly wrote:..... but I can't see anyone choosing just radio commentary over actually watching the game live tbh.

What Olly said. I don't think any local fans would choose radio over live unless they couldn't actually get to the game.

I can't see that being the case, surely you will listen if you can't get there for any reason rather than stay in the warm and listen to it. As BR said you can't beat being there on a midweek match IMO.
It seems our saturday attendances are about 500 and the midweek ones are about 350, remember we have a lot of under 16's on a saturday and they don't tend to come on a midweek match.

Radio Diamonds listeners peak at around 30, so it doesn't make much difference at all.
It's early days for them, they are all new to the technology and if they can get broadcasting at away games then that will probably bump up their listening numbers.

We can all go on about lower attendances in midweek but the simple fact is there is not one team in any of the leagues that will get higher attendances in midweek than on a saturday...Apart from Coventry last night
Thing is there are just a few more people that sadly have work committments in midweek than on a saturday afternoon too. Id give an arm and a leg to be at the games this season but the sad thing is im stuck in a sh*thole of a factory tue-sat, therefore not even getting to the saturday fixtures...
Well done to everyone who goes week in week out, but as with attendance numbers its always going to be a circle conversation that has no ending

30 is pretty impressive when you consider how few listeners the original Radio Diamonds would get in the final couple of seasons of R&DFC. I've still got the record for the first game of the 2010-11, and there were 16 listeners for 45 minutes or more - 14 from the UK, one from Dublin and one from Kazanlak in Bulgaria.SouthRushdenJFC wrote:Radio Diamonds listeners peak at around 30, so it doesn't make much difference at all.

Fair enough - and its certainly true that we do get lower gates in midweek. Now we can pretty much see how the fixtures will map out for the rest of the season it looks like we'll either have 8 or 9 home league games played on a Saturday out of a possible 18 - ridiculous in a 37 week season, even allowing for postponements and ground-sharing.BartonRaz wrote:Well we can argue all week about what represents a considerable amount, but at the end of the day it was the lowest. ;)Formic wrote: I'm not sure I agree with "considerably" - we only had 383 for the Bugbrooke game and 399 for Raunds. I think the R&H game created extra interest - as we saw at the Hayden Rd game.
I'm not moaning by the way, just stating a fact.
