I'll echo that - I went there at the end of last season and was amazed how good the pitch was. Although the ground is very handy, and quite easy to find if you know where you are headed, for those that don't know where it is and plan to rely on a SatNav its worth reading the Match Preview rather than just looking at Sileby's website - http://www.afcdiamonds.com/northampton- ... h-februaryburger monster wrote:You will find Silebys ground very neat and tidy, there,s no better pitch in the UCL, like a bowling green. On the match preview it says there's a car park at the ground but having looked on google earth it doesn't look very big - anyone know if it will be big enough to accommodate all of us and if there are any alternatives nearby if their car park is full?

From Sileby's website
Please note to away supporters, there is on site parking for around 140 Vehicles. This will be free parking and obviously on a first come basis.
Should the car park be full, there is ample opportunity to park within Moulton Park Industrial Estate. Parking is at your own risk and may we ask you to respect local residents should you park within any residential areas nearby.
There will be a bar available open both in the clubhouse or in the Scouts Building within the complex.
We look forward to seeing you tomorrow and hope you enjoy your visit to Fernie Fields.

I'd recommend anyone that might expect to get there late, and thinks they might need to park away from the ground and walk back, checks out the local directions. Talavera Way doesn't look the best of roads to be walking alongside - it appears to be a high-speed ring road without footpaths, so if people do park in the industrial estate rather than the residential area they might want to bear that in mind and plot an alternative walking route.

The Lumbertubs Pub is only round the corner and has a car park, with the landlords permission.

I understand that the access from Talavera Way was created a couple of years ago because residents were not happy with fans parking in Fernie Fields. I used to work on Moulton Park industrial estate and agree that trying to park there and walking back in the dark along Talavera Way would not be the best of options and quite dangerous.

Ironically we had a discussion on the other forum early in the season about how a trip to Sileby might be best avoided in midweek for this reason - and it turns out it's the only night game we have away from the D&D. I'm quite surprised to see that suggestion on their website without a suggested walking route.Trek wrote:I understand that the access from Talavera Way was created a couple of years ago because residents were not happy with fans parking in Fernie Fields. Not being funny but if the local residents can't hack attendances of 30-40 each week then they must be pretty bloody miserable. Probably the same sort of people that write in to Points of View.Trek wrote:I understand that the access from Talavera Way was created a couple of years ago because residents were not happy with fans parking in Fernie Fields.
Regarding the parking, i'd thought myself that it doesn't look great, I think I might just get there a little early and attempt to get one of the parking spaces at the club itself.
