Man of the match for me was Quincy, but they were all great

Sileby weren't what I was expecting at all, they were pants.
Admittedly wasn't there, but from the excellent radio diamonds commentary it didn't sound like they were at all, hit the woodwork 4 times in the first half didn't they and sounded like they caused us problems?
If they had taken their chances in first half, then it would have been a different story, they Didn't.

Yeah, we know all to well about not taking our chances, Oadby being a prime example.

It was an awesome performance & result. The whole team battled, fought and showed character. Sileby are a good team, very quick to pick up second ball in midfield and their back four anticipate situations and deal with them before they become dangerous. Having said that, we restricted their forward line to long range efforts and I thought overrall we created the better chances. We've really cranked the pressure up now and must keep up the momentum.
Any idea on the attendance? It looked around the 450 mark to me.

Agree with everything you say, Robin. A massive win for us. Looking like the Hartlepool chase down mark II. According to Tony's match report approximately 470 in attendance and I reckon nearly everyone there was only supporting one team. Lovely pitch and surroundings. Shame we were relegated to the Scout Hut for pre-match drinks.

Sileby should have been out of sight after twenty minutes, the woodwork hit and a couple of great saves from Quincey. Alfie got sandwiched but no penalty given. The lino the stand side seemed scared to give anything that wasn't a throw.

Two good teams, a good surface and a great result. We were lucky that the ref didn't spoil it with his erratic performance, a prime example being that he made a Sileby player come ten yards up the pitch when he was trying to get a quick throw to the goalie and then did nothing when their left back pinched twenty yards on every other throw he took. The 'keeper is the weak link there, he can't kick from his hands, his kicking from the ground is erratic and he's not the most mobile.

The second half we were magnificent. The back four were lead perfectly by Arron Parkinson and were throwing their bodies in front of everything. Shanny and Brad gave a disciplined performance in front of them, Wizz ran his socks off. Gearing tried a few things that didn't work but kept on going and they were worries when he got the ball and Alfie and Jake gave their centre backs plenty of things to worry about.

As the game went on they were getting more and more agitated and the discipline was on the point of going, we kept our discipline, kept our shape and deserved the win.

They are a good team but tonight we proved that we are as well.

What a performance and result! Yes, Sileby did start really well and hit he post twice and forcing a few good saves but it takes a while to get used to how the opposition play, who does what, and who picks who up. They seemed to get lots of space between the back 4 and midfield but we soon rectified that and slowly turned the screw. But in the whole of he game look at the chances that we had even in the first half. 2 penalties" gearings chance, Mcbride back post, wizz's lob' Newman trough on goal. Second half we totally dominated, with a little more composure on the final ball we could easily have had 3 or 4. Still think Sileby will win the league just by who they have left to play but we will be doing all we can can to change that. How deflating that score must have been to oadby and others who surely expected a home win. A seriously brilliant result by a great team performance. Finally I know the singers have had some criticism of late but these guys make a great atmosphere and make a big difference. Their enjoying their football and a few jägerbombs by the sounds of it! Long may it continue.

Great night, fantastic performance. I thought Sileby were a very good team certainly every bit as good as Oadby, probably maginally better than Eynesbury or Bugbrooke. Great perfomances all round but particularly impressed with how easily Parkinson has slotted into the team. If we can keep maintain this level of performance, attitude and desire then who knows?

March is going to be a massive month with 8 games including games against Sileby, Oadby, Bugbrooke and Eynesbury. We are going to need the sort of performance from last night in all of these games. Also a Whitworths game in March and another at the beginning of April and I'm sure they will be trying desperately to put one over on us.

Ref last night was shocking again, particularly in that first half. Nice ground but not very welcoming. Quite happy to shove all the Diamonds fans in an open hall, with nowhere to sit and charge them £2.50 for bottled beer whilst, the handful of Sileby people sit in a plush bar with proper beer surrounded by empty tables. Glad our boys paid them back on the pitch. Fans were great last night.
